How much MT fluid do I need?

I keep seeing different numbers 1.4 quarts 2.2 liters and everything in between.

How many quarts will I need? I thought 2 would do it, but I want to be sure before I drain...

Going to try Pennzoil Synchromesh BTW, will post results!

According to Bentley Manual:
330i has GS6-37BZ Transmission; Manufacturer ID ZF type H.
Initial fill, new or rebuilt unit contains 1.7 US QT.
Fluid change will require 1.6 US QT.

I don't know why there's a difference between 'new' and 'fluid change.'
I performed a fluid change myself and I just filled the tranny up until the fluid reaches the filler hole -- it's about 1.8-1.9 QT, my guesstimate.

That's simply because not all of the fluid will drain out, so you'll have some still in there.

Interesting, I've just started researching this oil a bit more... How did you arrive at it ?

Please post impressions as soon as you put it in.
