Guys is fitment of the mufflers the same on e90 as e92?. I ask because I have a e92 someone around my way with is selling his muffler for super cheap and he has a e90. Is it the same thing ? I'm talking about fitment.

Its the same thing, only difference is that the e90 has resonators in the rear and e92 has a rear cat. I would get his, do the mod to his and keep yours as a back up.

Has anyone in SoCal had this done with good results? Can anyone recommend a SoCal shop that has successfully done the mod? Been lurking for a while and I want to get it done! Thanks!

So if I'm not mistaken I can use the e90 muffler and not have to do the X pipe mod because e92s don't require that mod ? Someone help me out correct me if km wrong. Me having a e92 and using a e90 muffler to do this mod I shouldn't have to do the X pipe? |

I installed mine today and I have to say it is very loud and raspy especially on cold start and when giving gas in low rpms (auto tranny). Doesn't sound good to me at ALL. Heavy throttle in higher rpms sounds good and at cruise it's fine with no drone. But if this is how you guys sound I don't know how you put up with it. On first start the neighbor kids came running over! I do have catless dowpipes and since I used an e92 exhaust to modify, it doesn't have rear cats or resonator, just the crosspipe. Maybe I did something different but I followed the recommendations I think (both perforated/resonated pipes in the mufflers replaced with straight pipes and I split the packing).
I'm thinking a couple of resonators in the middle would help a lot. But I don't know if I want to invest much more in this experiment. Last edited by Dan A; 09-01-2014 at 10:56 PM.. |
