Use revtor's profile or any profile with MAN file manipulation enabled. Read out your frm module. Search for SPIEGEL_BORDSTEIN_AUTOM in your fsw_psw.trc file and set to aktiv. Save it as fsw_psw.man. The code the frm module by running sg_codigen job.
The controller hardware can be accessed by removing the painted mirror cover. If the mirror does not have the folding option, you can remove the controller after removing the entire mirror assembly and the connectors on the glass. Else you have to cut the wires since the folding mirror motor is wired to the controller and can't be removed without "destroying" the mirror Last edited by snoozee; 06-14-2012 at 06:44 AM.. |

you do not have folding mirrors. do you have memory seats? if you do not have memory seats, chances that your mirrors are not operated over the LIN bus.
the side mirrors comes in 2 types. 1 for LIN bus which uses 3 pins on the mirrors and another type which comes with 5 pins on the mirrors.if i'm not wrong, the tilt may not work for the ones with 5 pins as it doesn't use the LIN bus. so if you want to get it to work, then you'll need a new set of mirrors as well as additional wiring for the passenger side mirror. after that you'll need to do the coding as well. if you're planning to buy the mirrors online, search for those which has 3 pins connectors. keep in mind that LHD and RHD cars mirrors are not interchangable as the angles of the mirrors base is different. btw, this is how the mirror controller look like. it's the black plastic piece with the barcode sticker. you'll need to buy a pair of mirrors. E90 pre LCI mirrors are quite common on ebay.uk if you have a RHD car. since you're replacing your mirrors, might as well buy a set of folding mirrors. for the steps on coding and hardware install, there is a DIY guide on bmw coding dot com forum for E88 power folding mirror retrofit. since E8x and E9x are similiar, you should be able to use that guide as well. |

your mirror is not using the LIN bus. compare your photo against mine and you will see yours is missing the black controller module for the mirror. $430 and $313 are for folding mirrors. nothing to do with tilt on reverse at all. |

how did you come up with this? 'Getriebe' is translated as 'Transmission' in this context and 'Handschalter' refers to 'manual switching', i.e. this setting tells the FRM if the car has an MT or AUTO and shouldn't have anything to do with the curbside mirror tilting. To see these terms in use, check out this German blog post discussing the differences between automatic and manual gearboxes. I'm fluent in German and thought I'd give my $.02 on this. I'm still curious to hear why this should have to do with the mirrors. |

can't confirm if the tilt will work. i've read of people doing folding mirrors retrofit from non-LIN bus mirrors but it requires some rewiring since you do not have the correct LIN bus wiring in the first place.

OK. is there any easy way (via ncsexpert ecu coding) to tilt down the passanger mirror. I mean I have european car with steering wheel on left and I want to tilt down right mirror down, when set reverse on manual transmisison.
I've had e90 with electric seats, but not with memory and it worked. But now i have e92 with electric seats, but it doesnt work. So i believe have to somehow code it. thanks |

Hi @snooze,
Very interesting your info. I have bmw E91 futura lci 2011, I don't have electric seat, electric mirror, I'm intrested only to tilt function! I know for this function isn't necessary electric mirror...so 5 pin mirror are ok? I can search for a particular code in my car resume code? Now I need only to add VO optional using coding? or I need also new passenger wiring? |
