IPod Adapter will not charge
I recently had the adapter dealer installed in my 2006 330 . The ipod works fine except on the screen of my new IPod nano it States "charging not supported by this acessory" My buddies iphone read the same thing Anyone know what I need to do. Also does anyone have the manual for the adaptor?
Thanks |

Something tells me it's the way the adapter was installed but I could be wrong on that - for sure, Apple hasn't changed their technology on the connection.

Apple changed newer iPods to only charge off of the 5v USB power input. Charging off of the 12v firewire input is no longer supported. If you connect your iPod to a device that only supports charging via 12v input you will get a message on your iPod stating the above error.
There are adapters like the Scosche passPORT Charging Adapter that you can connect in between your iPod and device to charge via the 5v input.

Sorry, my mistake . . . I took the comment to be that it just changed with the latest Apple releases, and I'm only recently converted to using an iPod (since June), so it was delivered with USB only charging. The change from firewire to usb was a while ago, and I wasn't aware of it.
This is what happens when you get on a forum in a bad mood, you start looking for shit to stir up

You get it on mains 240v docks as well. My old i pod Nano would charge on my dock but the i phone 3g won't, you get the message "charging not supported on this device". I have checked others in the shops, same problem, if the dock or device is 3g compatible it will work with newer i pods too

mine stopped charging and later died. i dont mean the battery died. i mean it would do everything but charge or goto sleep in my car and it ended up frying itself later one day randomly
