Gonna wax my car. Should i wash it with Dawn prior?

Alright well my 2010 E90 LCI M-sport, was recently clayed and wax by a good friend at the dealer who knows his stuff. .. The paint doesnt need any claying its nice and smooth and no need for polish at this time.

I have swissvax saphir wax for my Black Sapphire metallic paint..

I was thinking if i should wash the car with dawn prior to waxing it?

Dawn will just strip off most of the old wax. If you want to simply add a layer on top, don't use Dawn.

Minimal contact with your non-metallic surfaces, and only on special occassion, Dawn should be OK. The other/additional choice is a spray bottle 1/2 water, 1/2 isopropl alcohol with a clean, soft MF towel.
The reason for either is to clena down to the clearcoat, and eliminate any contaminates that may interfere with bonding wax to the surface.
