Blackberry Bold Bluetooth and SOS Malfunction

Has anyone with a Bold receive a SOS failure? The phone is still connected via bluetooth and I can get the contacts, make calls, etc. except for I get an SOS Malfunction error. Do you think it's the car or the phone? Thanks.

They're gonna tell you the TCU needs to be replaced and that your phone isn't on the BMW approved wireless phone list and try to make you pay for it. It is VERY expensive so my advice to you is FIGHT to get it covered.. ie: not having SOS which comes free with the car for a year won't help if my wife is in the car with my newborn child and gets in an accident, nobody will come to help them.

The stock went up 12% yesterday and the Storm is being launched today and released on Fri. Definitely the car, not the BlackBerry.

You probably just need a software update. I bet the error goes away if your car is off for 20 minutes -- or better yet, if you have iDrive, just press and hold radio power, CD eject, and DVD eject. This reboots iDrive. It is the E90 equivalent of CTRL-ALT-DEL.

BTW - I'm looking forward to the BB Thunder or whatever the touchscreen is. I'll try to convince my work to buy me one.

Thanks for the reset. Actually, I got in the car this morning and the error went away by itself. No idea what the cause is, but I'm hoping that it doesn't come back

For touchscreen devices, I came from an iPhone 3G to the Bold mainly because I use it for email and the touchscreen keyboard is terrible to use. Having said that, the only thing I can recommend is to go to a store and type on one for a little while to see if you'll like it. I hear that the Blackberry Storm is better to type on than the iPhone.
