Anyone else with a 335i delay?
Is anyone else on here experiencing the delay in delivery of a 335i car?
Been told by the dealer that BMW are having problems keeping up with demand for the 335i (335d appear to be ok). I'm currently at status 1200, which means "Ready for Production", has been like that for over a week! Was hoping for a March delivery, now looking like April BTW - Dealer also said that the 335i engine will be going into a series 6 soon.

I saw a dealer the other day who said he could get me a 335i by end of april, currently on order for a UK dealer but could be knabbed and spec changed. That suggests to me that end of april is about right although they might've ordered it years ago.
The wait potential is putting me off 335i and making me think seriously about 335d. |

And it sounds like it would be longer for a 335i.

Saw some spec changeable ones on dealer screen at weekend, but they weren't THAT dealership's orders and so got offered relatively crap deal - presume I'd get a better deal if I went to the dealership who had the order placed?

Our 335d took five weeks from order to pick up. We were told it would be a bit longer initially but it cam quicker than expected. It was our own specced order as well.
I've heard the 335i engines are in short supply as they are introducing them into other models that don't have the diesel (E93, Six series) and the X5 as well (although this will get the d). Regards Chris

Chris> So yours was a brand new order to your spec, not one the dealer already had on order and just changed? 5 weeks is quick.

Its not clear if we are speaking about E90/91/92/93 here... but...
When I wanted to order my E90 335i I was told by my dealer that I would have to wait to the end of april for delivery (it was end of jan at this time) because BMW are concentrating on E92/93 and therefore 335i engines were to be allocated to them first before they are offered to go in the saloon / touring bodyshape. Because of this i ended up buying the 335i they had sitting in the showroom, they told me that BMW was going to have serious problems meeting demand with the 335i engine in the next few monthes... Look like they were right.... |

I'm talking E90 but if it is the engine that's the issue (as I understood it to be) it will presumably apply across all models.

Well the impression i got was that 335i engines that have not already been allocated to a build slot, are to ALL be re-routed to E92/93 production lines, as they want to keep up with the higher demand of these models as they have just been released (especially the E93).
Therefore unless your dealer can find a pre-spec'd E90/91 then you will be in for a long wait... This is what my dealer told me.... I didnt believe him at first (thinking he just wanted to get rid of his showroom car) but by the looks of it he was right, and im very thankfull for the warning... |
