Post ConnectedDrive Update UPD01005 released

It's rather strange there's no mention of iOS 6 but there are multimedia updates for MX-1.x.x and MX-3.x.x systems; sadly none for 2.x.x.

Yes - use the USB in the console (not the glove box)

Make sure the USB drive is formatted as FAT16 or FAT32, copy the update file to the root of the drive (not in a directory). Plug the drive into the armrest USB. From your iDrive menu browse to Settings > Software update > Update software. Wait a few seconds if you don't see anything, a prompt to update the system software should come up.

For anyone that's applied this upgrade successfully, can you please explain, with as much detail as is possible, which files to place on the USB key drive?

I have a 2011 e90 335i with all necessary options. I'm using one of the "Keyfob" USBs that BMW sent me in my welcome kit. I've downloaded, from www.bmw.com/update the UPD01005 file to my desktop. Opening this folder in Finder on my Mac shows 1 .xml file and 4 .bin files. Should I just copy the whole UPD01005 folder to the USB? Do I have to extract one of the particular .bin files?

I've formatted the USB drive, via Mac's DiskUtility, as FAT32 and it is completely empty.

Please help.

Thanks!

I installed the recent update in my F10 and noticed a huge improvement with response time when using Siri or the dictation function on my iPhone 5 over bluetooth. Pretty happy about that because it was functionally useless for me before.

Put the UPD01005 file on the USB drive - don't extract the contents - don't put the UPD file in a folder/directory on the USB drive

Plug the USB drive in to the USB port in the armrest/console. Go to the update section in iDrive and perform the update

I appreciate your response, and not to seem ignorant, but I'm going to press you for further detail, if you don't mind. When you say the UPD01005 file, to me that's the entire folder on my desktop (the result of downloading the update from BMW) that includes the aforementioned .xml file and .bin files (1 and 4 of each, respectively). I've already tried placing this entire folder on the USB drive and initiating the "update software" option via iDrive with the USB drive in the center console. All that I receive is an instant "No USB with Software detected in Music Input...yada yada yada" message.

Rather, am I suppose to take the actual "SWUP_00000B98_003_005_005.bin" file (as I'm currently on Media version 3.5.4) and place that on the USB drive alone?

I'm sorry to ask what may sound like such mundane questions, but I feel that I've tried loading my USB with so many different combination of these files only to keep getting the above message that no files are being seen.

Thanks so much!

You're doing it wrong.... sounds like you are mounting the file UPD01005.bin which is why it's showing up as a folder. Just copy the single file UPD01005.bin to the USB drive. ConnectedDrive is smart enough to look inside that file and depending on what ver. you have update accordingly.

Tag is right, don't mount or double-click your downloaded file, just copy the UPD01005.bin file to the USB drive

You guys are great thanks! That worked like a charm, it updated the "telephone" side to TX.003.005.005 from 003.005.004, keeping the media at Mx.003.005.004. Is that what you guys got?

There are three version of ConnectedDrive, v1, v2 and v3. You have v3 which has updates for both multimedia and phone with this release. According to the Software update information pdf you have updated to the latest releases for both TX (phone) and MX (multimedia). For those with v2 systems they only get a phone update and others with v1 systems only have a multimedia update with this UPD01005 update released.
