1-2hr Labor.
You can do it yourself if you have a jack and jack stands or even ramps.

+1, for a 5" should only be 1-2 hrs for install.

Shouldn't take but 1-1.5 hours for install start to finish. Most shops charge $80-$100 per hour labor.

I am considering doing it myself as i am pretty good working on my car, but you know how things go sometimes; you cut something in the wrong spot, im just scared messing something up on my car. i got a heavy duty jack stand and some tools, don't have a dremel tool though...not sure if that's required for trimming the plastic to fit the 5" intercooler. Also, once the interoolcer is installed i still need to go get it tuned, i think the shop asked $200 for install and tune..

There shouldn't be any trimming with a 5inch. The only thing you would need to cut is the stock clamp on the hose as its a 1 time use.

As far as tune, have you considered a plug and play tune like Cobb, JB4, or PROcede? They dont require and professional tuning and just plug right in. On an otherwise stock car they add 60-70WHP. With an intercooler you can probably squeeze a little more.

Just look up a dyi for a larger intercooler. It will show you where to trim and how much. If you trim a bit you slide the unit right in place, no problem.

Ive never done an intercooler install in my life nor own a car that even had one but I did this with ease. Took me right around an hour. Just rolled the car on ramps and followed the DIY

hmm, i might tackle this myself then, i hope i wont get any surprises. Jeff - i already have a tune but once the intercooler is installed i need to go back to the shop to get it retuned for the intercooler to compensate for the pressure drop.

Hmm.. I'm assuming your just getting custom tuned every time you mod? That can be quite the hassle.

Not trying to be pushy but you can make your life easier just going with a plug and play tune, and you can select maps based on your mods and not have to go back to a tuner and/or pay for tunes as mods change. If anything I just want you and anyone else in your situation to know you have other options that may make your life easier and save money over time.

Most of the guys who get "pro-tuned" now have already bought all the mods they have and want to squeeze out any remaining power with those plug and play tunes.

Eitherway, happy modding!

I did my 5"ets took 30mins, it's very easy
The thing you'll run into is the hose clamp on the passenger side coming off the turbo pipe
You have to break it off it has no bolt to loosen, you'll understand when u see it
I have read you can pop/break it with a flathead screwdriver...... There is a grove on it I guess that's where they break it
I used a dermal tool, it cut through in a few seconds
Pull the shit one out and put the new in, do trimming first in needed my 5" didn't require it
Once you have ic pipes clamps all in place...... Tighten the clamps as tight as you can or you'll have a boost leak

R

the 5" ETS is a direct replacement, no trimming required. I've also done a 7" ETS, that one required trimming of about a half inch off the shroud. A real PITA when you're attempting to do it with the bumper still on the car.

5" ETS is about a one hour job tops if it's been done before. Anyone charging more than $125-150 for this job is a crook.

Ooo, be careful tightening your clamp on the HOT side turbo outlet pipe, this is pretty soft metal and will deform...

So would guys say ramps is the best method if you don't have access to a lift?
