finally installed AR catless last night.

ALOHA EVERYONE!!!

INSTALL: the install itself isn't too daunting, we just so happened to run into a lot of stupid issues figuring out how to get the dp's off. once off, the new ones went on no problem, no issues, no rubbing. just the rear dp clamp seemed like it wasn't seating right on the opposite side of the bolt. after spending a ridiculous time trying to adjust for nothing, i realized its how it is. enough with install.

Performance: ok wow. i was definitely not expecting this much performance from the dp's. boost response is killer especially mixed with the added throttle response from the 11-8 maps. i decided to drive the first night on the current map i have been using(stage0) so i could better see the results of the catless dps itself over the mods i already have(afe intake/v3/forge DV). i'll see if i have better luck with stage1 since before i could never get away with it from shitty fuel and weather conditions.
the top end is really where i feel/see the gain. the car does not seem to run out of breath nearly as much as before. i usually do a 60-105mph run in 3rd to test performance gains by seeing how it runs through the gear especially when the needle goes past 80 and 100mph marks and it sure does run past it. if i put it in 2nd at 40mph it will break lose and i couldn't do that before. the sound the motor makes while mashing the throttle gives me the impression its not working or stressing as hard to accelerate. and the amazing thing about it, the volume of the exhaust didn't increase much with the stock catback, just more turbo whistling.

DRIVING: i found it easier to drive normally now with the new downpipes. gear transitions are slightly smoother though be careful that with the added boost response you can buck yourself and passengers into the seat easily if your gas foot is primarily lead and you're clutch foot is allergic to the pedal.
i haven't been able to create any droning at any normal cruising speeds and rpm. the only thing i can say that is annoying is during cold starts the first min you can definitely hear the wastegates rattle. first i thought it was a exhaust leak upon the first start up, but after min it stops. i thought it got fixed through shivs 11-8update when i had the stockers in, but i guess they muffled the sound enough to where i couldn't hear it. hopefully shiv's newest maps will resolve this issue totally :-) this is all i can think of for now. any questions feel free to ask!

Glad to hear you like the pipes, Teri!

Any catless downpipe will make the wastegate rattle more pronounced, if its there. Try Shivs newest maps and let me know how it works out!

Enjoy!

im on his 11-8 one right now. im loving the dp's. as for the rattle i knew it wasn't caused by your pipes or only heard through your pipes :-) i figured anyone with a rattle and got catless pipes would have similar results. looking forward to future products from you guys!

install it asap! you wont be disappointed ;-) next mod for me will be a IC..for the dp back, not sure if cat deletes will be enough to run shivs future stage3 race gas map. if he doesn't suggest it, then i guess the AE exhaust it will be. too bad i dont have a place to dyno where i live. i'd have to ferry it to another island just to do that. too much $$$ just to get some numbers :-(

The exhaust did NOT get louder? I thought it definitely would be louder.

You will hear a bit more turbo whistle in the car, and a bit more growl, but honestly not much in-car. These things have a TON of sound insulation. You WILL notice a difference with the windows down or standing outside the car.

I'd say the growl is noticeable when the car is on WOT from a top... Once your in higher RPMs its harder to tell the difference from the engine sound and the DPs.

Try this next time for a standard comparison.

you know, i was amazed myself. i installed it and didn't tell one of my friends and we were cruising around with the windows up and he didn't notice it. once the windows were down, he heard the turbos whistling sound bouncing off the walls and then asked if i did something. could feel the difference, just the sound is harder to pick up on. if you are the conservative type, DP's wont be an issue for you in terms of sound increases :-)

ok cool. thank you! this whole time i would just go to the same stretch and do logs and zoom in to the mph so the time has two digits to the right of the decimal and do the math from there. i will try this out. still testing out which map and tq% i should use with these since gas is inconsistent and usually junk here.

i would sir, but my camera sucks sooo bad it would not be even a close representation of the sound. i gotta pick up a HDvideo camera prior to my next snowboarding trip. i'd say the closest i've seen was the video on youtube with the guy who has the UR catless dp with in cabin shot...it sounds just like that. to me, i can't tell the difference in-cabin with windows up. maybe my hearing sucks? if so i have something to worry about since im only 22.
