Oil Temp. Too high?
My oil temperature sits at about 240, should I be worrying about this? I know the N54 runs hot but mine sits between 215 and 250.

you should only start to worry if it goes over 250F.

I think it starts to go into limp at 270 deg. So I'd say anything below that is fine.....also depends on where you live geographically.....

fun fact, my car's oil temps run higher in cooler ambient temps (70-80) degrees than in the extreme heat. When it hit 104 degrees in NYC last month idling in traffic, my oil temp didn't even touch 240. Guess that oil cooler was working overtime!

Thank you all for replying so quickly. I also heard that certain cars were equipped with extra oil coolants for the engines. Is this true? How do you know if your vehicle has this?

The stock thermostat doesn't open till 240 so that is your normal operating temp. You really don't have to worry about it till your get above 270, and you should only see that on the track.

anything up to 270 is fine, beyond that you'll experience power loss. Game over at 300F.
Example from last year. Fixed it since then with a STETT stg2 OC. And this would only happen at the track with stock (or no) OC |

As stated above, shouldn't peak above 240F during daily driving, maybe 250 spirited. I have the ER stage 2 and never go above 245, even on the track with exterior temps exceeding 100F

ER stage 2, is that the dual core? I am saving that space for an extra radiator or AT cooler.

Ya, dual core. The stock radiator does the job in my opinion and would be a waste. HP said they were coming out with one but haven't heard much about it.

Ya after I due a couple more track days, I will figure out what I need the most.
Mflowt5, you might want to block out your license plate since you are on the track. |

Yeah ive experienced the same issue from time to time. Around town or on the hwy in 85 degree weather, I can literally watch my temp move up from 245 to about 255, going back and fourth pending my throttle and speed lol obvious its pretty safe if others are seeing the light of 270....
