What is the difference between a RWD e93 convertible (2 door) suspension compared to a RWD E90 4 door sedan?

I was going to buy some KW coilovers at an insanely good price, but they are off a 2008 e93 335i RWD vert... and I have a 2008 e90 RWD sedan.


Is there any way to make this work? Should I still buy them or is there zero chance they will fit?

Why the hell are the e91 and e93 suspension different than the e90/e92?

Has to be a way to make the suspension fit each other, cant imagine they are THAT different? But I really have no idea.

Please help!!

weight, I bet. The e93 is a pretty heavy pig as is the e91. The springs would need to be higher rate to support that.

Hmm good point, I am sure that's it.

With that said... Can you run e93 coils on an e90? The ride might be a little harsher with the stiffer springs but Wil it work and be ok?

You will likely not be able to lower as much. The higher rate spring would result in a higher ride height. It also rather defeats the purpose of an aftermarket coilover system (better handling). One risk I could see is that the spring rate would be so high it ends up RAISING the rear end of the car rather than lowering it.

Yea... Damnit.

I know it is wishful thinking.

Maybe I'll buy them anyway and resell or trade them.

Damn shame, I really wanted kw's and thought I was going to get some at a great price.

Just so you know, you can get brand new V1's for around $1200 shipped from the forum vendors. Personally, I think it is a bad idea to install used suspension components. You have no idea how they were treated. Plus the warranty doesn't transfer. :-/
