Nissan 370z: £26,995
Revised 370Z sees price cut by £3,005!
http://www.pistonheads.com/news/defa...?storyId=27782 Sounds like a bit of a bargain. Not my cup of tea though..

The only issue is that for that kinda money....you can get a nice e92 M3....
which has 4 seats and more horses! and i reckon lower 0-60 times... |

That's an apples and oranges conversation Kev. The M3 would be around 4 years old and 50,000 miles.
I think it's a crazy price for an excellent, properly red blooded sportscar. These things may not have the poise of a Boxster, but they are no slouches and in GT trim, the spec is far from a long way behind the outgoing E9X range if not equal in many ways. What we should be asking is, how does it stack up against this Subaru/Toyota shit box. All I can say there is that anyone who buys that hunk of junk over a 370Z must be on crack. Matt |

oh of course Matt...if you start considering....age, mileage and other factors... I was focusing on the price and performance aspect only... I think that everyone ( well, all the car journalists/ magazines etc) have said that the BRZ/ gt86 are "fun" type of cars and not really performance oriented... The 370z would be abit too heavy to provide any "fun" element aspect...when stacked up against a BRZ. I think the BRZ/ GT86 should be stacked against s2ks, mx5 type of cars... |

M135i is a different prospect - Hatch vs coupe. But I would have one too over the Datsun.
A 235i when its released will be £4-5k more even with a base spec.

In terms of looks, I don't really rate the M135i.
Based on looks I'd take the 370z or the RS3. But in terms of performance, I reckon the m135i would take on both the RS3/ 370Z IMO |

M135i is proven to be quicker than a RS3 straight line and much quicker round a track.
It would humiliate a 370z in both circumstances. Doesnt take away the fact that the 370z is a decent car and at this price a bit of a bargain...

The RS3 is heinous
The M135i isn't much better but what a beast The 370z is a bargain but still an unreliable hairdressers car IMHO!!!! BUT. What an engine and what a noise they make. I look back on my 350z ownership fondly now. I hated it at the time. Dave

You lot ain't got a clue about true motoring!! It ain't all about speed, mpg, refinement, practicality & refinement. It's about how you feel driving it. Out of all the alternatives mentioned Ill stick with my Zed thanks. A rare sight on the roads, good looking, a fecking performance bargain (whether new or used), sounds great (with my exhaust on!), and just a special car to own. RS3 = boring. Boxster/TT = too common. 86/Subaru = lacking in quality (put skinny tyres on a Zed for more laughs!), used M3 = v.tempting but bastard thirsty & expensive to maintain.
Come on, you know me better than this, don't you think if there was anything better Id have bought it by now?!?!?!?! |

Lol, Rog!
I like 'em. Need a bit more practicality in our 'second car' though....as mine has become. How did I allow that to happen ffs?!!!

A neighbour a few doors down has a 370z 40th anniversary black edition.
It's black with red leather and dark smoked coloured alloys. It looks fantastic. I'd be very tempted to buy one if I could live with a 2 seater. Love them but I'm not keen on the nismo edition. |

I agree. If you close your eyes for a minute & compare the price to the outgoing prices it ain't bad but against the new prices it is steep. I initially dismissed it on harder suspension & 'boy-racer' styling alone but it's kinda grown on me (in a carefully selected colour of course). As a drivers car, and still thrill-per-buck, not a lot else will compete I reckon.
