BMW 335: International Racing Debut in Bathurst!!!!

:rocks: Two BMW 335s are racing, right now, in the famous Bathurst 12HR Product Car endurance race. And closing in on hour 7 (~145 laps!!), both cars are still in one piece!! Not only are they doing well, one of them (Gary Holt's #20) set the fastest time of day. Unfortunately, a fuel leak sidelined it temporarily but it came back with a vengance. It's currently in 2nd place, just behind a Subaru STI spec C. The other 335 is not too far behind and is also cutting super quick laps.

Check it the live results: http://www.bimf.com.au/live_results.asp
And some updates: http://www.bimf.com.au/latest_news.a...=16&Pagecat=16

For those who don't know, Bathurst is a famous race attracting privateers and factory teams alike. Mazda, Subaru, Mitsu, etc,. all struggle to see their cars win the race for a whole year's worth of bragging rights. It's awesome to see two privateer 335s doing so well. The cars are largely stock. Very minimal prep is allowed. The BMWs must run stock peak boost pressures (0.8bar), stock radiator, etc,. The only cooling work that was done to the cars were removal of the AC condensor and a larger oil cooler.

Power mods, on both cars, consist of full exhaust (no cats) and, of course, PROcedes!! During the tuning, we were very nervous about turbo longevity since our 335s have miniature version of Evo turbos that usually only last 5-6hrs during racing conditions before blowing up. But so far, so good. Keeping any car together for 7hrs (and still going) is quite an achievment. Let's hope they can get through the next 5hrs and get a podium finish!! :rocks:

Just looked at it...and the 335i just pulled ahead, and is now in 1st place. This is very cool.

They are allowed to do ECU tuning And boost is still higher than stock. I don't know of any stock car that actually runs the max boost specified in the shop manual.

I have some pics of the cars during the build-up that I'll post up later. They are sporting nice Vishnu stickers too. The number 20 car has it right under the headlights. Not sure where #17 has it.

UPDATE:
Just got my hourly update call fron the team. Both cars are running very smoothly. No issues with temp yet. Gary's car (#20) took the lead and is fending off everyone else quite well. #17 car is a couple of seconds off Holt's pace but still holding its ground. Both cars are using the new speed limiter defeat feature in the PROcede. They were hitting the factory speed limit during practice! We're puting to test a lot of beliefs and hunches we had about the tuning of this car. And so far, so good. Only 4'43min to go!

Just to show how safe of a tune the procede is. To withstand hour and hours of stress and not blowing up is something every other 335i ecu tuner cannot replicate. Thanks Shiv, for the good work. :rocks:

#20 335 is now 23 secs behind.

Still more that 3 hours to go, though.

I thought the procede gave you better gas mileage?

Seriously though, this race is giving me a lot of confidence in the 335 and your procede.
