First of all, a BIG thanks to all that create DIY guides.
I would normally DIS (Do It Son) something like this. But with the kid pulling the 4AM-4PM shift at Space-X we don't see him much. The sensor went off last week so I thought I'd give it a try. I used Akebono 1267 pads for the rear. I had the young'n put Akebono 918A pads on the front a year ago and they are great. No dust to speak of and they stop really well. The amazing thing is how easy it was with the help of the DIY guides here. I'm Mechanically Declined and an IT guy so doing car stuff is not my thing. Long story longer, Don't be afraid do it yourself if you can't DIS it.

As far as I can tell there is not much of a difference. But then again I don't drive very aggressively. My daily commute goes like this: Left-Right-Right-Left on to freeway-4miles-Right off freeway-Right-Left-Park. Also my wife gets car sick on even moderately twisty roads. I don't like cleaning that stuff so I drive slow. Sigh!

Nice, I've done them about 4X front/rear on my Nissan, haven't touched the BMW yet....I would like to keep my rotors. My experience with the Nissan is that NO replacement rotors were as good as original, not even Nissan OEMs (they were made in USA not Japan)...

Akebonos and other low dust pads def have less initial bite than OE when driving spiritedly. But the trade off for almost no brake dust is worth it IMO. Also. REMEMBER TO RELEASE THAT PARKING BRAKE WHEN DOING REARS! Took me forever to figure that one out.

One important point I forgot to point out. If like me you let your hair get long, be careful about running over it with the creeper. It hurts!!!
