question about tires

I was getting a couple prices on tires and it's come down to these two.

Hankook V12's
Falken 452

tire sizes 235/35/19
265/30/19

What would you choose and why?

The price I'm getting for these two is only about $100 difference in price.

but see good reviews on both.

going to put them on 19 inch rims if that makes any difference.

Thanks!

I checked but they are good reviews on both of them lol... so got me curious if they are both good should i or shouldn't I put out the extra 100-150.

the falken's would cost be just under $1000 installed and mounted and the V12 just a bit more than 1000 but not that much difference.

I had the V12's on my car last summer loved them, had a rear go low and destroyed the side wall and i replaced my rears with the 452's due to price,

only drove on the 452's a few times and they seam ok. but they run a little narrower then the V12's, and i hear the 452's get a little noisey over time.

spend the extra and get the V12's

I have the V12s on the back for summers and I really like it quiet and tons of grip, but I have had them for less the 1000k, so I guess it doesn't count much.

Personally, I like the V12's if i had to choose between the two. When Car and Driver tested them, they came in second only to the PS2's from Michelin. I like that they feel "sticky" compared to most other tires on the market.

I just threw on new Falkens and they are great; Though I can't tell you how much better, if at all, the V12's are, I can tell you that I don't think it's worth it to shell out another ~$100 to get them if the Falkens do the job.

You pay for what you get. Both tires have weak spots IMHO.

If your driving normally under 120 km h and non agressive you will find that side walls are average but acceptable.

Falkens on cold mornings tend to be stiff and feel less secure.

I would stay away from both brands..

Conti - Michelin - Pirelli have great selections and really solid sidewalls ..not mushy and very safe.

I had a low leak on my rear falken 3 summers ago and the tire shread to pieces ..going 120 on a highway.. Try changing a rear wheel on a Porsche and finding a space for the 19 inch mag ..

IMHO ...never again will I cheap out for sub-par tires on a sports sedan/car ..

I think you misread that article. I had v12s last summer and they are good value for sure but there are def street tires that perform much much better. They were comparing them as well as other cheap performance tires against the ps2's. Here is the link: http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...12-evo-page-10

My car came with V12's, I could make them spin all day, they are horrible for straight line acceleration.

I have now switched to better tires and the difference is ridiculous between a good tire and the v12.

+1. Those of you who could say that v12's are "sticky" have definately NOT driven on better tires ie PSS / starspecs / a048

+2. With FBO the v12s have a hard time putting the power down from a dig and downshift into 2nd or 3rd. I bought the V12s last summer and due to a bulge i will have to replace the rears this summer and i have decided put on the falken 453s. i read that it is about 30% better then the 452s. I'm going to test them out and compare them to the V12s. Hankooks were awesome in the wet. Dry was decent for highway pulls and cornering wasnt so bad i felt that the sidewalls did well around corners. Hoping some nice weather comes as i want to test these 453s out but after the breakin period

+3. Was on PSS and it is a fantastic tire but I run them down too quickly on my rears. Only lasted one season. They grip better than my past PS2 and Pilot Sport.
So I will be also testing the Falken 453 this summer.
Same price as Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport and Ventus V12.

http://falkentire.com/tires/car-tires/azenis-fk-453

thread pattern is almost a copy of Pilot PS2. The FK453 is about 200-350+ a set cheaper than Pilot Super Sports.

I still think they wont be better then V12s or anywhere as close to being almost on the same level as PSSs. We will see =)
