If you want extra speed ditch the x drive (cause it's pointless) and get a three stage intake manifold with a AA tune.
He should have gotten a V8
Now this I can agree with! "Coulda had a V8"

It's not subjective at all. The 335i is an unreliable peice of shit that rivals VW for the sheer number of fuckups the car can have. Granted, the N55 isn't as horrible as the N54 - but it's not Japanese level of reliability.

And I love the argument "I CAN MAKE 400WHP" yes, while the rest of the car crashes and burns around you - who cares?
Are u speaking from experience or just based off the forums?

My 335i is plenty reliable. Sure I had to replace a few spark plugs on the way but that's about it.

My previous car was an e92 328i also reliable but my GM tranny failed on me so did both my headlights needed replacing $$$ I also had my wp did.

But
To answer OPs question, yes the 328 is that slow. Not sure if u wanna spend a few grand on headers and a tune and maybe keep up with the G. Those cars have way more torque. Not to mention they don't need a powerbox in order to get rid of that hideous pedal lag

Never would do that - if I had the money, I would drop a S54 in the e90 rool:

And yes, you have the potential for more power, but how much power is too much? 300whp is huge - 350whp is crazy - 400whp is absolutely retarded.

I love love LOVE the feeling I get that the car gets more powerful as it reaches redline, but every other time it drives like stock. It's just an N/A thing...I wish I had cams.
Bro I really think u need to drive a 335i to know. Just that instant midrange torque it gives you with no turbo lag is amazing.
Trust me I had a 328i and traded it 6 months later for a 335i. I was afraid of maintenance and repairs like u but realized its not that bad. Once I boost its hard to go back to NA.

My 335i did better MPG compared to my 328i. The engine just effortlessly pushes

The n54 reliability issues are far too overrated on this forum esp since everyone is buying second hand 07s with wg rattles and HPFP issue. All Thor problems are fixed.

Whenever I go on the NA forums it's a bunch of problems here and there if not its some kid trying to make 5hp out of a charcoal filter delete

g37 is a far superior vehicle than a 335i! Agreed!
LMAO. Yeah the G37 is much slower and consumes more gas. Way superior than a 335i lol

Lol what facts plz show me?

A stock 335i rapes G37s. The car has no low end torque at all.

Boost or bust

Not to mention getting 30mpg hwy is something not existent on a G.

I don't mean to bust ur chops and all just saying the "facts"

Even in the hood

Ok guys I own both an 07 g35x and a 08 328xi. Years ago I raced a buddy's 08 325i coupe with the g from a roll and I was behind him when we kicked. I punished the BMW! Both cars are also autos. At the time I did not own the bmw. Even though the g is faster and more reliable I still love driving the bmw a lot more. That is why they call it the Ultimate Driving machine and not the ultimate drag race machine!!!! Take him to the mountains and see if he can keep up because the g does not I repeat not handle as well as the xi. That way you can kick his ass and not spend any money!!!!

Love this thread. *grabs popcorn.

By the way, I raced a stock 2008 Nissan V8 Titan on my rather babied 2007 328 and won by about 10 feet. I know it's a pickup truck. But the guy was talking trash about BMW so I had to show him what BMW's really are.

Most guys in trucks always try to down play most cars. Remember they are compensating for something

Not trolling. If I find another guy on a Titan I will try to record it.

I have owned many BMWs and I can tell you my tuned (rbs, methanol etc) car has been really reliable. It is a 2007 also. What people fail to realize is even most 07s have been upgraded to the more reliable hpfp. I have put 70,000 tuned miles on it and have had one thing screw up on me. The blower motor resister plug. I change my oil religiously and change my plugs about every 20k. I bought my car because I wanted an n54 not because I wanted an e92.

So today a non-boosted badly modded Honda Civic (with aftermarket tow hook because we all know that adds 20hp and those jdm row mirrors, add another 20hp) came up to me and rev'ed his engine. All i heard was his fart can and a bunch rattle. I laughed in his face. when he took off, an old lady driving a lexus is250 in the other lane beat him [to the next red light....] pwhahaha. I couldn't stop laughing.
