Kids and Cars
I've just let my daughter who's nine, steer my car around a private car park for a short distance (sat on my lap). So history will always say that the first car she got her hands on was a 300bhp bmw. (probably no big deal in 10 years time when a 320d is that powerful)
My earliest hands on car memory was changng gear in my dads Volvo 340 on the way to school. So what do you e90 members remember of your earliest memory of 'driving' a car then???? And have your kids tried your BMW yet? |

Good idea! I'll let my 10yrs old have a steer sometime. I used to love changing gear in my old mans car all those years back! [No crude comments Willhomena!]

A big old Merc Estate with my uncle - I was 11 or 12 and DROVE it back from the pub on a fishing trip we were on - it was an automatic and in we were in the middle of nowhere. The pub was literally at the top of the road in relation to the house we were staying in!!!
Dr Dave - mentioning the changing gear for the old man brought back forgotten memories of doing the gear changes for my old man when I was a nipper! now..... now....... now......

Me and my next door neighbour used to sit in his dads Citroen CX in the driveway pretending we were Knight Rider. One day we got hold of the keys as he wanted to show me the suspension going up and down. We ended up driving it into the garage door.

On me Dad's knee steering a Volvo around a field in Cornwall! The feeling of power and control became deeply embedded! (Although my father still has the ability to make me feel 7 years old again )

Field cars when we were teenagers were great fun. We used to make jumps out of earth and jump the car off them! So, so dangerous!!!!!

My Dad's 1976 Ford Cortina estate (MkIII I think it would be), it must have been about 1978, i would have been 12/13. I nagged him for ages until he finally relented and let me have a very short drive in a field in Kent! It was an awful bronze colour, but i loved that car at the time!

My Granda's Ford Ferguson TVO when i was 9ish, then stepped up a gear to a Massey Ferguson 135, then settled into a luxurious Ford 4600.
Couldn't wait till I was 16 to get my tractor license! A real driving pedigree behind me! lol |
