Only difference is the numbers, that's about it and to KwlAznKid, these cars aren't slow. The 325, 328, 330 came out in 2006 and the 0-60 times were 5-6 seconds, cars in 2010 averaged 0-60 in 9.5-10 seconds. That's 4 years and our cars was still faster than most cars in 2010.

I've never driven a 328 but I'm sure that with my current mods, I have more power than a 328 -- says my butt dyno

Agreed. I drive a 2006 325i with the production date being in the first half of the year and the only problem was t-stat and water pump.

I'm not sure I'd call it a common problem because I've heard of it failing anywhere from 70k-ish miles to 100k. I don't believe replacing the tstat is mandatory when you do your water pump but I did to be on the safe side.

I can second that. The engine shakes at idle and seems a bit off.

I do everything myself, springs, shocks, exhaust you name it except tints. And it cost me around $1400 because I decided to buy everything new.

whoa i'm sorry everyone, didn't mean to start a war here, let me rephrase i guess, they are NOT fast cars, and yes i guess fast or slow is all relative, my 328i with its 230 hp is "slow" compared to a v6 accord which is well i think we can all agree a pretty average car so that's why i said slow.
once again i didn't come in here to BASH on anyone's car, i have a 328i myself, you guys need to relax and i stand behind what i said about these not being fast cars. if the op is concerned about speed then 325s and 328s ARE NOT the right cars to consider, can we agree on that? if he just wants to go fast get a v8 stang! we all know bmws aren't built for straight line speed

A V6 accord is slower than a 328i in terms of straightline performance, 0-60 tested on a 328i is around 6.5s, and a V6 Accord is about 7.5s I would believe that my 328i can take a V6 accord on a track any day as well.

A V6 Accord Coupe can easily go from 0-60 in the low 6s with the MT. I would say stock for stock, MT to MT a V6 Accord is about equal to the 328 in terms of straight-line performance, which is to say both cars are pretty quick. |

However, I still would say that a V6 Accord Coupe would get dusted by an e92 328i on a track.

that part i bolded is EXACTLY what i was going for, trust me i can appreciate bmws (see sig) I LOVE BMWs 328 or m3, i love em all, and my mistake on the "accord" statement if that was incorrect, i didn't say that based on any sort of research. but what i was trying to state to the OP in my first post is NOT that a 328 isn't a great, car (because it is, or else i wouldn't own one) but it's that a 328/325 is NOT built for straightline speed and when it comes to daily driving (at least in my opinion) 15 hp doesn't make a huge difference in a daily commute agree?

I see an average of 30-50 civics on any given day, and although I am aware that a 3er is common as well. I have driven rav4s, siennas, accords in the past and all I can say is that I am grateful for what I have. No car I have driven has even come close with how well my car handles and performs overall, even the 2012 X5.

In Taiwan, the 325i really is a 2.5l engine and puts down 220hp. Not that fastest thing in the universe but more than adequate and so smooth. I will miss it when/if I switch to the 2.0l 4 cylinder despite the power and torque boost.
For reference on BMW power levels, you can get a 320i here with 155hp, and even 316 and 318d. So even the 325 is in the middle of the power ban for our cars. |
