Exclamation Wow... you can get some cars for a song now days!!

So I decided to take a 1 hour lunch yesterday to visit the Porsche dealership near where I work.

I saw a black 2007 Carrera S on the lot with less than 8,000 miles. Naturally, I went over to ask about it. The quad exhaust pipes just make that car look mean, and let's face it... the Carrera is an iconic car. The sticker on the front said $63,000!!!

It was a CPO car too! Meaning the warranty on the car would go into 2012. The thing had NAVI, 19'' turbo wheels, and bi-Xenons. It was pretty loaded!

The SA naturally gave me all this talk about how great the car is, and I was just getting bored. Really, do I need to know how awesome a Carrera S is?

I told him I really can't go over $55,000 and that was my hard limit (it's not really but you know how how to play it). He said, "I could do $56,500 but you would have to finance through Porsche NA."

I am being seriously tempted. This deal almost seems too good to be true. What do you guys think????

nice car no doubt. if you are financially able to, sounds like a good deal. the hardest question is, do you want it?

I LOVE... let me restate this.... LOVE the 911. Here's my Top 5 list of cars I want to own before I croak:

1. Aston Martin DBS (even DB9)
2. Porsche 911 (S, Turbo, etc)
3. Corvette Z06 (or ZR1)
4. Ferrari (any)
5. Maybach (when I'm old and retired)

See #2? I am seriously tempted. I mean it's 50/50 right now just thinking about it. My big thing is finances. I just bought the E92 last year, but it's going to my parents. I want to pay off as much of it as possible before giving it over to them so I can refinance the payments to be lower. But it seems this car is realistically 1 year too soon for me (just bought a home too). Of course, there's also the kid, but he's not too expensive yet.

The car is so big and stately though. I would drive it wearing a long black statesman coat, wearing a monocle, black top hat while swinging a cane around my finger.

What was wrong with the 57?

And a cigar my fine sir. BTW: I have a rule which says that if you own a Maybach, you cannot drive it yourself.

basically that was the problem, that i was driving the 57. its not as high tech as the S class and certainly not a better performer. thus, back seat is where its at. maybe im too young to appreciate...uh...old men's stuff. i used to have a ceo who had a driver for his LS430, go figure.

Seriously though, am I taking crazy pills? Has this economy really affected car prices so much? Anyone else find other killer deals?

I used to detail a 57 about two years ago. I thought it was nice, but for sheer elegance I don't think a Phantom can be topped.

Economy may get worse. Perhaps wait a bit and get an even better deal?

that sounds like a good deal, but i'm not too surprised. cars don't worth much nowadays and is a true reflection of how bad the economy is. dealerships are piling up. read an article that Merc has a whole shipment worth sitting at the dock collecting dust cuz they can't even clear out the ones they have at the deaelerships.

seriously, anyone who is looking to buy a car now.. no matter what it is, HAGGLE the crap out of it. dont even be affraid to offer "too low" of a price, cuz they will accept anything just to get a car outta the door more power to those whos got $$ in hand rightnow.
