Help! Oil cooler housing, how to separate from oil filter housing?
I have a '09 335i with sports package and factory oil cooler. There is a oil cooler housing (thermostat housing) attached to the oil filter housing. I need to replace the gasket tomorrow.
But how do I remove this oil cooler (thermostat) mechanism from the oil filter housing? Do I first unbolt the oil filter housing first, then unbolt the oil cooler housing? What about those two hoses that connect to the oil radiator in the passenger fender? So what is the process in sequence of unbolting and disconnecting? Is there enough flex in the oil cooler hose so that I don't have to remove the oil? Thanks. |

You can see the 3 bolt holes in the filter housing in the link below: http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...71&hg=11&fg=30
