F10 M5 oil pump failure. Stop on production & deliveries

Any M5 or M6 manufactured between july and sep this year have a faulty oil pump. Owners are being contacted and told not to drive the car.

Deliveries stopped etc also so this can be addressed.

Not good but better than mullering the engine.

You have to wonder how much damage might already be done to the engine if the oil isn't circulating well.

Apparently Kerr it's a sudden failure. So if it has not failed before the recall/service action then it should be ok. I'm sure more info will come to light soon.

But it could fail at any time hence the halting of production and delivery also.

All current owners are being contacted and told to stop using the car immediately.

Mmm, they would say that though wouldn't they!! Call me Mr Cynical .

Someone near me has a new M6 Cab, had one for years before, I must say it does look stunning however, to the untrained eye, I guess it looks like a standard 6er Cab (the M6 reg plate in this case helping )

I sat in an M6 today at a local motor show and was chatting to the BMW rep (who I knew anyway from previous dealings). He didn't think it affected the M5, and it was only a certain batch (maybe the time-frame you suggest Carl), but the one I sat in was affected so wait awaiting correction. Gorgeous car though.

I've yet to see an M6 in person yet. In the previous Gen M5/6 I always Prefered the M5.
