Ontario Members Selling Items Grrr!!

How hard is to put something in a box tape it up and bring it to the post office? (bumpers, wheels-tires are understandable) Are you really that busy you cant take a half hour or so to do this? I have wanted to purchase 6-7 items in the past year from the Canadian classified section only to see that its " GTA OR LOCAL PICKUP ONLY" GEEZZZ!! OK rant over................... maybe there should be a forum for just the Ontario members who only want to sell their items locally.

If they dont want to ship then thats their right. why dont you just buy it from a local vendor if no one wants to ship to you.

some people say gta pick up only so they can advertise there product to people around there area. if it doesnt sell to someone close to them they sometimes change there mind and open it up to shipping.

imo i hate shipping its such a hassle and i dont get cash in hand.

Local pickup does not mean sale for just local buyers, you can still drive across Canada and do the local pickup still .... you can consider your trip as a (long overdue) vacation and take on the beautiful scenic routes.

if the seller i think wants to ship, then use ebay, more hits and sometimes more money in pocket even with ebay and paypal fees.
plus alot safer for the seller and buyer imo.

Not meaning to bash but trying to be helpful here...if it says "local pickup only" you can always ask "are you willing to ship if I pay for shipping?"

...and in many cases, the answer is "yes"...

Btw, even if they say "I won't ship", if you get to know them on the forums, there's a good chance they'll bend over backwards for you. A lot of the guys here are cool once you get to know them. Some members I've given them stuff for free because I have no use for it. And I'm sure if there are some guys here who would PM me and say they can't pick it up, I'd ship it to them no problem.

Heck, I had some Americans PM me once for a part I put in the Canadian forums and I even shipped it to them. They just asked nicely.

That's just cause I haven't been in Ontario long enough. (Haha I still think of myself as an Albertan living in Toronto. I don't cut people off on the roads yet... j/k j/k j/k)

But yeah, honestly you posted a rant with a pretty aggressive tone which obviously wasn't very well thought out at the time. Of course you'll get immature replies. :P

So uh lesson learned: ask because you never know. (it doesn't work with wives or girlfriends though...for that it's better to ask for forgiveness after...)

Maturity is a two way street. Your first post didn't sound mature to me. Just a random member bashing at a province. Geez.

Well a member bashing or even better, creating a pointless thread will most likely get comments that "will" sound immature.

Where is the maturity in creating such a stupid/hostile thread on a forum like this. OP need to get over the fact that some rather not ship (same thing happens in other provinces/states).

I do agree though that sometimes it doesn't hurt to ask if they would consider shipping. If not, I say thanks for the consideration and move on.

I actually never found this post as aggressive and offensive as everyone else seems to have. I guess there are a couple reasons people don't ship... either the item is cheap and not worth taking the time to ship or they don't have much exposure to shipping. I've shipped 100's of parcels in the past couple years so I actually prefer to ship items unless it's like a $40 item where it's not worth it. The biggest reason though is that some stuff is just a pain in the ass to find boxes for and ship... like an exhaust or bumper. Wheels and other parts are fairly straight forward to ship.

I understand the frustration... 90% of the stuff I want is Socal only and it really does suck haha, just message the person offer to cover shipping and to pay asking price + Cash on top... and just wait and see how fast they ship I do it all the time.

Thank you good sir, it was not my intent to be either of those. Very frustrating that's all.

I'm from Vancouver...I see no reason to ship if someone local is willing to buy....and more often than not, someone local is willing to buy; It just takes some patience. I'm pretty sure I'd never ship.
