Did I buy the wrong size?

I recently picked up a set of AG M359, 9x19 and 10x19. I thought I had done my research regarding tire size but when I took them to NTB (probably my second mistake as they seemed 100% incompetent) they refused to mount the rear wheels as the tires (265/30-19) were too stretched. I do agree that the gap between the rim and tire wall looked pretty wide. He would not let me leave with the tires mounted on the rears and is now in the process of taking them off. He did let me leave with the tires (235/35-19) mounted on the fronts as the gap was not quite as wide.

Here is a couple of pics of the fronts. Is the gap too wide requiring 245s instead, or does this look ok?

On top of that the morons dented one of the rims while mounting it.

So my question is, did I order the wrong tires, especially for the rears?

If so there will be a brand new set of Conti Extreme Contact DW 265/30-19 for sale in DFW.

that is a bit of a stretch...but i think it looks good in my opinion. You wont have any problems. I have a 225 stretched on a 10" rim. Just make sure the gap between the tire and fender is what you want.

Have them compensate you for the damage, then go to a diff shop and have them mounted.

I just got off with TireRack were I purchased the tires and they said 265/30 is the dimension Conti recommend for a 10" rim and he said there would be no legal liability mounting them, as the shop owner insisted there would be.

Haha. You should definitely take your car to a different shop if there calling that a stretch and don't want to mount it.

I'm glad you posted pics I was looking for pics of the conti in 265 mounted on a 10". I think it looks good I am surprised they were worried about it. Curious tho why not go for a 275?

Well, the story gets even better. I go back to NTB and show the store owner the dent. He completely denied it and said that's a manufacturing fault as the finish on the rim is not cracked. I told him that TireRack had told me Continental actually recommend 265 width on a 10" rim, then I told him he and him he's just incompetent as his crew in the shop. At this point I just wanted to leave before I punch this idiot.

I went straight to DiscountTires and they were happy to help me and laughed at the fools at NTB. The guys dismount my front tires again to put them back properly again. Once all four wheels are on the car they do one ladt check and find a tiny bubble in one of the rears. I call TireRack to see what I can do about it. They ask DT to dismount the tire to see if there's any damage to the inside of the tire, which there is. The DT guy says thete's no way TR will take this tire back as a defect tire. Now I'm about to come unglued.

I talked to the sales guy at DT and even now, despite asking him to clarify, I'm not quite sure if they'll pick up the bill for the tire as they did dismount it, or if I get stuck with. He did order a new tire. Until then I'm ghetto on 3 new 19" rims and 1 old dirty 18" rim.

After dealing with this BS for an entire day I'm too pi$$ed to even think about it. I wil definitely contact corporate HQ for NTB as their service/competense is the worst I have ever come by.

As to 265 vs 275 I still haven't made up my mind. I just today bought a brand new KW1 setup from a member here and I'm worried about rubbing with 275s once the car is lowered. It's usually only me in the car, at most me and my wife, but never anyone in the back so maybe that won't be a problem. Thoughts?

The guy at DT said I could tell him to get 275s instead should I change my mind. I'm not quite sold on the stretched look and worried about the rim not having any protection from the tire. On the other hand, I worried the diameter will be off should I go with 275s as that adds some height to the tire wall.

The pic was actually on the fronts, 235s on 9". The rear rims definitely sits a lot less protected by the tire. As I just posted above, I'm still not sold on the stretched look.

whats the offset for the rear? if its +30 or more you should be fine with 275 and just get the fenders rolled.

They are 38. I thought I'd get away with not rolling the fenders so I never looked into it. What is an average cost for doing this?

I just mounted 235/35 on a 9" and 265/30 on a 10", I'd say it's stretched enough to the maximum width on the 10". Definitely OK, though.

I'll never go to NTB again. Got "free alignment for life" as a part of mounting tires, that "free" alignment ended up costing me money to restore proper alignment that they screwed up a good 5-6 times. Got to the dealer fixed in one round... Useless people that don't know what they are doing.

+ a million on that.

I called their customer service last night to put in a complaint and I was told I would be contacted by "management" at the beginning of next week.

Ah I see. You wouldn't happen to have a pic of the rear would you?

I still have it mounted on the rim and may be able to take a pic of it tomorrow.

I decided to order 275s as I am not a fan of the stretched look, on top of having to worry about the rim not having the protection of the tire. Just doesn't look right to me.

My one remaining 265 is for sale should you want it.
