Weird, exact thing happened to me as well. I check the bolts every so often. Since I got a new pulley and belt I've been okay. I have an 05/2008 car.

Exactly what happened to me.
I hit a nasty bump which did was the final straw and it broke immediately.

what about having the sub frame notched as a preventative measure to stop the power steering pump pulley from hitting it?

Does anyone have the contact info for those attorney's who helped with the HPFP recall? Maybe someone can drop them a line and ask them for some input on this topic?? would also be nice if they can do something about starting a water pump + tstat recall too

I'm sure they already have the right people at BMWNA in their phone books should be some easy money for them?

Also, has anyone here reported this to the NHTSA??? All we need is for some poor kid to die on the freeway because of this issue and everyone will be getting yet another recall letter

Its too bad they didn't just lump this in with the battery cable recall.
