Proof that oil change was actually done?

I did a search and it seems there are a million threads on oil changes, but I didn't see the answer to my question...help! How do you know that your oil was actually changed when you go to the dealer? I am very paranoid about this for a couple of reasons. The first and main reason is because I was actually told by some jackass in a suit (not sure of his title) in the dealership that "we dont like ppl like you here"! What he meant by that was ppl who imported their cars from U.S. to Canada. Long story, but to keep it short, when I was in the process of importing my car and had to get a recall letter from a Canadian dealer to complete the importing process, I was confronted by someone in the dealership and had a heated debate about how Im screwing up the Canadian economy and how my business isn't welcomed. Second reason is because there is no dip stick or way to check if the nasty brown oil is now golden.

u can drain the oil and look at how clean it is lol

but seriously, one way of checking would be if u pull your lower splash panel to see the drain plug, if it has a copper ring it has been performed atleast once. The cars come from the factory with a silver crush ring.

Problem with that is that I have already done an oil change myself. In fact I even did the first one after the break in period at the dealer and when I changed the oil myself the second time it looked pretty black. Dealer Supposedly changed it at 3000kms and I did mine at 16000kms.

you could put a line of paint with a paint marker on the head of the drain bolt and where it threads in.. If the line doesnt match up.. or if the paint on the bolt head is marked, you know it was drained.

Furthermore, if you import a US car to Canada, you forfit the maintenance warranty package anyway so why do you worry so much? It's not like you are going to bring the car back to the US to have service work / warranty work done.
First of all, I "bother" because at around $100 an oil change for BMW filter and oil it is still pricey (for me anyway), so a "free" oil change helps a little.

Secondly, the whole waranty actually follows the car to Canada minus the the brakes (which I can can get by driving to buffalo, but not the point and completely off topic) BUT...thanks for your 2 cents!

Is there or isn't there a way to check whether or not the oil was changed?

just go to another shop to get the oil changed, check the canada section, RMP apparently has a good reputation and will change the oil for you

I would tell you to pull the dipstick out and take a look at the color of it but hey, they don't have one. Could you open the oil filter up and see what the oil color looks like?

Open the oil filler cap, get a q-tip, take a swipe. Check the color.
