muffler delete

i just bought an 07 328i and was wondering about changing the exhaust. I dont really want to buy an entire exhaust sytem quite yet because i'm not exactly sure what my plans for the car are at this point, but i am interested in making it sound better in the mean time. I see a lot of talk about muffler deletes and cat deletes, just wondering the details about this... I'm familiar with removing the cat, but i've noticed that some people remove the muffler completely if i am understanding correctly? Maybe this is more common than i thought but if anyone has done this would you please gimme some details like price, legality, sound, you know. Thanks

it's a little loud on the 328. Add the magnaflow muffler and mtech rear and do the 335 style exhaust

Most mustangs that sounds like 1000hp has the straight pipe or muffler delete which makes that loud ass sound. .
I doubt there is any performance gain but i might be wrong.
Sounds pretty good somewhat exotic to fake ass exotic sound.
Cost varies from $50~$200.

Is the muffler delete reversible? Like if I don't want it anymore? Doesn't it void your warranty?

Dealer would want stock form if u need a fix or work done on your car that isnt simple work.

You can always "reweld" your stock exhaust back and cut the straight pipes off.

depends on the dealer, most of them won't give a shit what you take off, but more so what you put on.

So if I go in for a regular service, they wont car. I searched muffler delete and actually sounds really good, but I saw a post that said that its bad for BMW's because something about backpressure? But it would be annoying to have reweld the muffler everytime you have to serice

you have a n/a, don't think your too worried about backpressure, more so on 335i's and i think the turbo's maintain all necessary backpressure, it's the downfall of this forum, people think they are experts

i'm definitly going to do it once the weather gets nicer. i can cut and weld exhaust myself so it seems pretty simple, i guess i'll need to get a pipe bent though because it looks like where the piping goes into the muffle doesnt line up with the tip, but thats ok. now, does anyone know where to get some nice tips at a good price?

When you have that much power removing cats and mufflers creates power by removing restriction.

You wont notice any power gains on a stock 328 but when you have 4-5-600 hp, removing exhaust restrictions free's up a lot of pony's depending on the stock setup.

Usually cars with forced induction can benefit a lot from losing exhaust restrictions

i have had my muffler delete for some time now and i love it, i just got a different tip in the mail last week but havent had a chance to get it put on yet, the cars sounds great though. no problems or anything, it does sputter and backfire a little bit when you let the rpms rev down on their own (like a SRT4)
But it isnt too too loud or obnoxious like some ppl said... just a deeper louder sound, and it screams at high rpms... love it, i def advise anyone who wants better sound without the cost/work of an exhaust system to try this. I payed a local shop $80 including the tip which i think was $30 so compared to an exhaust system its pennies!

I have the muffler delete on my 335i. From my understanding with a twn turbo car you can delete the muffler and it will sound good. but without the twn turbo doing a muffler delete would make it sound like a civic with a Fart can on it. ...but i may be wrong, if it is possible to do it on a 328 then doo it.
