Cool man, these are sounding better and better. I really like the idea of the knob being at the top of the front stuts. I wonder if they will be adjustable with the brace in place or if it will need to be removed each time like with Koni Yellows. Either way, its way better than on the bottom like the PSS9-10s.

Sorry guys, didn't get a chance to sit down and write up impressions yet.
Here is a quick iPhone pic to tide you over. Second, I'm falling in love with the car all over again. Edit: darn can't upload pic from iPhone! Crappy browser! Last edited by shaizada; 01-14-2011 at 10:47 PM.. |

So, what about the ride my friend? You seem impressed, the car looks great, a little low for my tastes, but nonetheless...

When I quoted your other message the link to the pic was there. Maybe E90post and imageshack dont get alone.

As promised, review posted here:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...16#post8693216 I didn't proof read for grammatical errors, but will correct later if I feel like it. It's late and I gotta get up early for a roof vinyl wrap and hopefully get to MFEST!! |

These spring rates, at 450lbs front and 500lbs rear would result in a car that is way over-sprung up front compared to a very under-sprung rear. These rates would be closer for a coil spring on shock absorber conversion in the rear, and even at that the rates still look off? If it's coil on shock in the rear the ideal spring rate should be nearly equal front to rear.

i think the link that you are referring to is this one... http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=235797 basically...our set up is very similar to the KW Clubsport and HKS Hypermax almost identical ratios, let me know via pm if u have any more detailed questions! |

Better yet let's have the discussion out in the open where consumers like myself might be able to learn something about a product I am considering.
The spring rate ratio of the Clubsports appear to be considerably higher than the Sonic co. The only coilover that has a ratio close is the HKS. Why do the Sonic co's have a more balanced ratio and what are the advantages/disadvantages of a more balanced ratio? The HACK or anyone else feel free to chime in here? |

I dont know much about this stuff so I just kinda wanna learn a bit.
Question for Jose: Can the springs be replaced with Swift Springs? This way we get the spring rates we want and still take advantage of the adjustable damping control to dial in the ride we want.

I don't know why Sonic, KW Clubsport, and HKS uses a different ratio than BMW and quite a majority of tuner's spring rates. Those rates look more like E36 and E46 spring rates which uses a spring attachment point a lot closer to the king-pin in the rear, so the resulting wheel rate is closer between the front and rear.
I don't want to speculate as to why it works or not, since suspension tuning is such a black voodoo magic that even the best in the business will tell you it's all about testing testing and testing to come to the right rate and damper settings. Only reason I commented was the spring rates jumped out at me. Then again, Dinan's been known to actually put SOFTER dampers on his suspension packages to achieve BETTER handling characteristics...This is Steve Dinan, one of the most revered technical guru when it comes to BMWs. It is entirely possible to tune the rear compression ratio to mate to softer springs (relatively speaking compared to front) in the back to achieve desired effect...Depends on what the desired effect is. Also, does anyone know if the KW Clubsport or HKS Hypermax is a coil on shock absorber design, or a coil on control arm system?
