First question....has anyone done this? If so which type of springs did you go for and what was the front and rear drop?

Second question.....are the springs different on a E92 and E90 335D? Can springs recommended for an E92 335D be used on the equivelent E90

I am looking to lower the car but do not want a big drop, a max of maybe 25mm. I've enquired about the Eibachs but these state just a 20mm front drop and no drop on the rear???? H&R do a set but they are 50mm front which is way too much and 30 rear.

Anyone have any recommendations?

I had H&R Euro Race springs on my E90, which dropped the car a further 15mm lower than M-Sport suspension I believe. The drop was low enough to be honest, any more and there would have been rubbing. They were the same springs that my buddy peppernick used on his E92 335D so I think they are the same for E90/E92.

There are pics of my lowered E90 somewhere on the forum...

I got the springs from Roy at CA-Automotive. Super chap, give him a call and he will chat through your options and confirm the details you need...

Speak to Teddy at SSDD or Roy at CA. They know the E90 and E92 very well and have supplied springs for many of the members on e90post...

Well its not expensive - that's the going rate for springs and fitment

I think you will struggle to find fitment for £100 to be honest - I had a cracking cash deal

pauls quite right...anywhere else and it will be much more. Birds for example want £327 plus VAT from what i remember just to fit them! add coilovers and youre talking a shed load more budwah

springs are a worthwhile mod i reckon cos its not that pricey... makes the car look a whole lot better and sharper handling. with coilovers u wont get the benefit on the road, its pricey and also high maintenance.

fitting for me is £180 (e92s take an hour or so longer to fit than e90s apparently)

Alot of money just for springs though. For other makes you could get decent shocks for that too.

To be honest I'd be quite happy to pay £250 for springs if it includes fitting. The springs themselves tend to range from £150 upwards for the decent brands, I am sure there are other brands that are cheaper, but it's only going to be by another £20 or so and at least the mainstream brands have been proven by other owners, who currently have them fitted and are happy with them.

This is true - its a bigger job to do the E92 than the E90 so expect to pay more for E92

Thanks for you replies. I've had an idea so will post in due course. I've narrowed my choice down to either Eibach or H&R, the front drop on the Eibachs is 30mm max and it says 0mm drop on the back but I believe it's actually 15-20mm. The H&R's are 50mm at the front and 20mm at the back, I am not sure if 50mm at the front is too much? The other option is Hartge springs these are 30mm all round but almost double the price.

I'll post up what I go with.


Like has been said it's a worth while mod if it sharpens up the handling a little as well as making the car look aesthetically better.

How many other owners would consider / are considering buying lowering springs?

all the drop figures quoted are from standard suspension. so if u have msport suspension (which u have on a 335) id knock off ~10-15mm on the stated figures from eibach and H&R, so with Eibach u pretty much get no drop at all

do a search.... an american went the eibach route and was pissed off cos he went to all this trouble and his car wasnt noticably lower than stock

That's explain why Eibach state no rear drop on the 335d, looks like I'll be going down the H&R route then.
