Just ordered a TV!

Just wanted to know when taking delivery,

do I need to open the box and make sure that it works and there are no damages? before signing the paperwork.

Thanks for any comments or advice!

Just sign the form and make a note that it was NOT checked for damage.

When are you moving from the cave?

It depends where you have ordered it from, some suppliers won't accept "unchecked" written on the delivery note. For your own peace of mind, just open the box and have a look at it, your taking the time to wait in for it to be delivered, so you might as well check it to save you waiting in again if its damaged.

Personally, I'd want the delivery guys to take the box away with them, as I don't like putting boxes for expensive things in the rubbish as it may only attract unwanted attention to your house.

I thought you'd misspelt the title for a minute Kev - wondered if you'd got a Sagaris, Griffiths or Chimera?? Your purchase is therefore boring by comparison

In my line of business we regularly take orders of TV's, computers etc and because of the set up it might not be opened for a week or so and never had an issue with damage on delivery. BTW that's over 100 tv's in the past 10 years including 60inch projection types from back in the day. Nothing to worry about. You can generally tell by the condition of the box. But that's the same with anything.

Always a good idea to let it warm up for a couple of hours before you switch it on too

don't play those Blu ray porn's yet kev...it will stress the tv, just like you don't rev a new car to 7k rpm and most important you don't want the repair man ask whats that white residue left on the screen =]

This is what I ordered:

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/1186...hd-46-led.html

Will Hollin said that I might need to return it to France if there are any issues.

I'll see if the courrier will let me check it...otherwise, i will write unchecked on the delivery note!

Which is why on TV's over £500 i tend to buy from John Lewis. They have to easiest guarantees to deal with. We had 5 lamps replaced in our old Sony rear projection. Worth double the cost of the TV!

Its a bigger screen than the TV in my SLS though

Your TV will be fine....as stated above, condition of box is key. If its busted in anyway then obviously take the time to unpack it and check it over before you sign, otherwise, it'll be fine.

When you switch it off does the picture shrink down to a little dot in the centre of the screen that finally disappears once the valves cool down?

You'll probably see this when you first turn on Kev,but don't worry,it's quite normal for those still stuck in the 1960's

ha ha!....very funny!...we got lots of talented in house comedians here!

Anyway, with all this technological cr*p LED, HDMI, hub, digital tv b0llocks, why does the "modern" TV still need an aerial cable to work!?...
