Hey i'm new to this forum so don't know how to search. I have a 09 e92 335i and was wondering that why is it that the first schedule service is at 15K. Cause i've had a is250 and it's first schedule service is at 5k and i notice that most cars service at 3k so is it bad if i get mine service at 3K or is it bad?

1) on the top ^ it says search so you can use that. It's in the grey area.
2) It should be serviced at 3k I've heard but I take it in when it tell me to take it in.

Preferrably, but not a necessity, after 1200 miles, do an oil change to clean out all minute metal particles during the breakin period. After that, the best thing is to change every 3 mos. or 3k miles.

If I remember correctly, the last time this topic came up, there was some amount of disagreement over what is the right thing to do. Some say the first oil change should be early, others say the break-in has already been done at the factory so the first batch doesn't get particularly bad quickly. There's also mention that the kind of oil used reduces the need for more frequent oil change. Also, the "do I own or do I lease" came into the picture: if I own, then probably I would change more frequently, to improve longevity of the car. But, it's hard to say exactly who's right, I don't know, I just parrot what people say

BMW's free maintenance program allows for free oil change whenever the car says so, or when the year is up, whichever comes first.

I wish I sold motor oil to you... all that unnecessary cash would have been in my pocket.

I will be changing my oil every 10-12K all the way till 300,000+ miles on the car.
