B&G or H&R?
I'm new to the board and have heard mixed reviews about which springs ride best. I want more of a touring ride on my 335I coupe and would like it a tad lower. Love to hear from those with experience....

The H&Rs are very stiff.

Go with Eibach if you are after a more comfortable setup. You can't go wrong with B&G, H&R or Eibach but based on your post, Eibach will offer the best ride quality.

Eibachs are very well made springs but some will argue that there is a difference between German/US versions due to quality of steel used - expect minimal drop if this is your sole purpose of swapping springs. Most BMW owners that have track experience and/or been through various brands of springs will be able to chime in with their experiences as well.

Your shocks will have a lot to do with this as well - many people are too cheap to replace their shocks and then complain about ride quality. Make sure you get the right pairing for whatever springs you end up purchasing if ride quality is of concern.

So what shocks are good for B&G springs? I have no problem spending a little extra to improve the ride.

Stock shocks are perfectly fine for B&G or Eibach.

B&Gs are good for the street, allowing the stock shocks/struts to be retained. Especially on e9x M3s in which EDC controls valve levels - still keeping the electronics happy.

I would suggest taking a look at Swift springs, and getting thrust sheets while you're at it.

Eibach Pro Lowering Springs provide a slightly more aggressive and raked stance than your stock suspension while still maintaining a comfortable ride. They will also fit your BMW's stock shocks and are a great and affordable way to increase handling while giving your car a lower stance. On average Eibach Pro Lowering Springs will lower your vehicle 1.4" in the front and 1.0" in the rear, providing for a lower center of gravity and improved handling. Pro Springs feature more control than that of the OEM springs, but are still comfortable for daily use. Eibach Pro Springs are an excellent choice for street and occasional track use. It's the prefered setup for those who are looking for a moderate drop without sacrificing ride comfort. I'll shoot you over a PM with more details!

Tough decision but... went with H&R Sport Springs and am really happy with the ride and height... so far. The ride in fact is very close close to the OEM Sport Package ride. Pics to come...

has anyone here worn out their shocks quickly (or prematurely) after changing the springs to eibach pros on the e92s. I have read quite a few ppl complaining about shocks wearing out after few months on the H&R but can't seem to find anyone with issue on the eibachs.
Thanks. |
