In-dash Head Units??
ive been looking all over e90 posts for anyone that has installed an aftermarket head units for navigation, music and video.
not many people have done it. only one person has, who removed the whole standard radio and temperature controls and installed a Double Din touch screen. is it possible? which manufacturers are good. apline, kenwood, jvc, etc, etc. the only problem i see is that the standard width for the factory option is quite wide, and i don't know if any housing is available for generic systems. it was quite easy for the e46, from what i haved read after googling... but for the e90 it seems its only the professional navigation people have opted for and then used aftermarket mods on them. for people like me who haven't opted for prof. nav. what options are there for these fancy screens that can slide out and multi-task. i understand that we lose steering controls for such mods. does anyone have any ideas for what is available? and would be worth doing, or better just to get a standalone system such as a garmin or tomtom i just couldn't justify spending an extra 1950 for the prof.nav from bmw and thought a 1000 pound aftermarket one would be better and have move in terms of features. navigation, mp3s, dvd, tv and Speed Cameras! Manish
