OUT OF TOPIC: Moving to Houston, job recommedations?
Ok so long story short, I'm moving to Houston in August to move in with my girl, we both just graduated from UTEP at El Paso TX, and I'm looking to see what kind of job's one can find in such a huge city, my degree is in CIS (Computer Information Systems), if anyone has a hookup or knows of a company hiring any type of business major (since my degree is technically both) it would help us, any questions, comments or suggestions will be appreciated

Look for a head hunter and they can place you just about anywhere, mostly contract work for the big oil companies -- but hey, $60k to $75k to be contract and get cut at anytime -- save up the money and you can glide for 3 to 4 months until you get another job.

There's plenty of potential fields to approach here. There is indeed oil/gas, then there's also healthcare, industry service, construction/architect, etc firms. Use all the available source via online, headhunters, and word-of-mouth. Good luck and best of luck. If possible, look to see for telecommuting gigs as well...though, could be difficult being that you've recently graduated and may have lil to no experience.

A recruiter. A guy from another company whose sole job is to hire people for clients' positions. You could get hired on for contract work. They pay you much more money, because you have to fund your own health insurance and such, and there's no guarantee of work beyond whatever the original contract is (or hell, you could get cut in the middle of the contract).
If you have a LinkedIn profile, that'll greatly help!

Find an adecco office and make an appt. do you have any work experience or industry certifications other than your degree? If not you'll want to hit the job websites for help desk and network/server administrator keywords.
Technical recruiters are all over the US create an awesome linkedin profile using key words describing your expertise and head hunters will spam the crap out of you!

I moved from El Paso to Phx, AZ. No advice. Just wanna say grats on graduating. UTEP is a great university. GL with everything. I had a networking and information technology associates and ended up writing code as a software developer.
