Item Interest
I have a 2008 e90 335i steering rack and steering pump for sale. Parts are from an Arizona car so there is no corrosion, rust, etc.

78k Miles on both, they were in perfect working condition when removed for an M3 steering rack swap, no leaks.

Rack: SOLD

Includes tie rod ends which have not been adjusted. It is likely that your car would not even need an alignment if this is installed (BMW tolerances are very exact) When I installed the M3 rack with tie rods no alignment updates were needed (including swapping knuckles and struts from another car with new control arms)

New ZF clone PS pump

This is essentially a Chinese clone of a ZF pump setup to fit the 335i. It is very similar to the 1M PS pump and the supplier quoted numbers that flow more than the LUK30 pump. It uses the non active steering inlet hose size like the LUK30. It is a direct bolt in replacement/upgrade. I ended up using a modified OEM pump instead of this because I have the larger PS lines.

I also have some other misc parts from the swap PM me if interested:

335i Front Spindles, struts, calipers
335i rear spindles, shocks, calipers

Curious what you used in place of the standard 335i pump? I didn't opt to change my PS pump when I did my M3 rack and it seems to have held up fine

On a more related note, I may pick up that rack to have a core/swap if I ever need to remove my M3 Rack. My original rack blew so I have no secondary rack sitting

Send you a PM in a sec

I created a 1M like power steering pump using a pump from a modified ZF active steering 335i pump with the solenoid removed and the valve from an M3 pump.

The base of the active steering pump is the same as the 1M pump but it used the active steering valve instead of a conventional valve...

I pressed in a plug and drilled a bypass hole to match the M3 pump.

It seals with the original active steering pump to servo gasket which is luckily the correct height for the M3 valve (basically a crush washer on the back side of the M3 valve). The machining for the active steering pump removes the same amount of height that the seal adds back. I have been running it for a few months now and with servotronic enabled it has nearly as much assist as original 335i pump/rack at low speeds.

The other option was to run a pump from a specific 5 series that uses a short nose ZF pump with a pully spacer but this is working very well. Unless others would want to do it with the spacer the cost of a creating a single CNCed spacer is too high to justify it so I went with the modified active steering pump.
