Good news everyone.....................wait for it..................................... the Independence II schedule now shows it arriving at the NYC Port a day early (June 7th, instead of the 8th).

Check it:
NEW YORK, NY U.S.A. 07/06/2008 - 08/06/2008

WOW!!!

RIGHT ON MAN!

I gotta say - 3 days sitting at the port in baltimore is a little excessive. Hopefully the rest of the chain will follow and speed it up a little.

Yeah...I'm hoping things continue to go well too and the vessel makes its way down the coast quickly and ahead of schedule...

Hillarious..I'm sure that kid's first post really was like a sniper shot to your self esteem, self-worth and life's work in general. I mean it was so carefully articulated. I was going to defend/respond, but then realized it would be like opposing a pro-se pleading in judge judy's courtroom.

Did you draw that with the little pencil thing in windows paint? If so you are an artist...look at my 'drawing' of the NYC letters with that little pencil thing...lol...and that was my third or fourth attempt (the first three attempts being totally illegible).

4 more days on the water for me...schedule should be updated for the better soon thereafter for you.

No joke - laughing my ass off. Very good.

i used the pen drawing thing minimally - i used boxes, lines and circles more. I dont have that steady of a hand.

I'm super excited for you man - - I've been sitting around for the last few weeks just ordering little things here and there for the car to pass the time away. Got a nice stack of goodies right next to me and just ordered another.

Make sure you post a nice pic of your baby when she comes in.

How far away from the port is your dealership ? Did the dealer give you a heads up as to how long after port you've got to wait. I know the final landing is just going to be bittersweet for me because there will still be some delay- I'll have to find some sort of GPS tracking on the truck that is going to bring her down.

There are some posts on here about the break in period and how to handle it - not sure if you've read 'em. You going to follow the manual or you have another idea on things?

Grave-

Im only about 70 miles or so from the NYC port, so hopefully it wont take long (see detailed map below).

As far as break in...I will definately keep the rpms under 4000 for 1200 miles or so..Im hoping to get it before I go to the shore on the 15th so I can take backroads and get a good break in with varied rpms and speeds.

catch up with you tomorrow.

Congrats on getting yourself a fantastic car and welcome to the party.
What stop you are getting off at - Georgia or South Carolina?
Where did you order from in Miami?

Hey guys I am on this ship too. I have been following the daily updates with great anticipation (first thing I do every morning when I get to work!). I really appreciate the updates.

I get off at Charleston!

Thumbs up How to know if you are on the Independence.

Solly - To find out if your on the ship you need to know your vin. Your CA or BMWNA can give you that info.

Then go to:

www.2wglobal.com
click customer centre
click cargo tracking
click auto cargo
enter your vin in the Cargo ID Field

Cool?

Umm...where is my car being dropped off?! SC is closer to Atlanta I think than Brunswick is, so I would assume it would stop there {and it's one stop before Brunswick as well--every day counts at this point} I'm questioning the validity of the WW site, but it indicats that the vessel destination was definitely Brunswick, but is that specifically for my car or the ship itself?

Welcome aboard Renaissance, Got psi and ADH! Nice to have some additions to the thread.

got psi- you have great taste in vehicle selection (Im waiting on a jet black on black 335i coupe 6MT Sport etc..as well).

Am I the only one in the group getting off at the NYC port?

Not that I'm counting the minutes or as dorky as grave (lol, jk of course), but according to my magellan-like maritime calculations...the independence has about 1200 miles to travel til NYC, it has been moving at about 20 mph (I know ships use knots, but I dont), that means it has 60 hours or approx. 2.5 days til it hits port and makes me a happy man. Therefore i think we hit NYC early Saturday morning (then hopefully leave Sat so it can get to all your ports).

Grave...feel free to add some artwork to my map below...my artisitic abilities only allow me to draw messed up broken lines in a poor attempt to show a course.

The art work that you and grave have been doing has made this the best tracking thread on the forum! Speaking of dorky EV you will like this...My CA has been good, but not great about giving me info and claimed he did not know how to tell what boat I was on etc. So I sent him the mapping snapshots to show him where the boat he could not find was. I am sure he will appreciate that.

Everyone,

Bottom line is --> I havent been tracking and mapping properly.....because I havent taken into account all of the other boats out there that stand in between the Independence II and our ports. I apologize for not taking this ocean traffic into consideration, and to make up for it, I came up with what I believe is the best strategy for the Independence to arrive at NYC safely with our cargo amidst all of the others boats in the way...Hopefully the captain reviews our thread.

Eddie, you and Grave are cracking me up. I come here just to laugh. (Plus I have nowhere near the drawing skills both of you have!) Hope your ship comes in real soon and safe.

Have a good night!
