Continental SC3 vs Conti M3's

Anyone know the difference between the Continental Sport contact 3's and the M3 version?

Sorry mate I'll try explain a little further.

I ran Conti sport contact 3's on my 335d.

Now I have an E46 M3 which came with brand new Continental sport contact "M3"

I cannot find out if they are a different spec tyre or not?

I have since found out they Continental advise against fitting the SC3 to the E46 M3 and stick with the "M3" variant as they designed it for the E46 M3.

Well they would say that wouldn't they?

I'm sure SC3 'normal' would be just fine.

Apparently a Completely different compound.

I've had SC3 on the Denz and rated them. Maybe they don't work on the m3?!

This is a new one on me, so to be clear..........conti sp3 aren't actually conti sp3s for the M3 as they are a completely different compound?????????????

How do we tell they are the M3 version, the dealer has never mentioned it to me on a service and my tyres don't say M3 anywhere on them

Mine say "M3" on the side mate. Mine are "Sport Contact M3's"

But I believe they were designed for the E46 M3.

im running conti sport 2s on the rear before that i was running conti sp5's when i bought the car it came with bald cont m3 tyres.

the sp5's are great the conti sport 2s are great. the best set up is 235 up front and 265 on the rear

i currently on 235 + 10mm spacer on the front andf 285 on the rear and its a bit to much so will be going back to 265's for the perfect balance

Ahh... I guess the E46 bit is the difference then. Have you found out the difference yet? It could be just a harder compound on the inner edge as BMs love to eat that bit.
