105,000+ original turbos and all that I have replaced is HPFP (under recall) and 2 injectors. Been FBO since 50,000 been running 50/50 E85 for the last 15-20,000 miles and all is good. Installing Rb's Sunday or Monday.

Edit: possible turbo seal on bank one going out (slight smoke after car sits).

Got mine with 78k about 10 months ago and now has 84k. No problems yet.

I do know the car was CPO'd at 45k and had the turbos and HPFP replaced.

93K miles, tuned since 1K.

Only thing major after warranty expired was water pump and new radiator. Radiator was probably from tracking my car with water temps getting too high.

I have all enthusiast level maintenance done on the car.

It's not the most problem free nor the most reliable car, but because I'm so comfortable maintaining the N54 engine, I just went out and bought a 90K 135i 2 weeks ago.

Budget accordingly and enjoy!

There is a guy in N54tech with 200k on his e90 335.

My 07 has been fairing well. So far only lights have had to be replaced....

Buying a high mileage car is all about the confidence in the previous owner. I sold my 05 STi with 138k. That thing is still going to be kicking for a while.

The early N54's have forged pistons, as well as the 1M and 335is motors. They proved to be overkill so BMW switched to cast ones for the later models. The forged pistons are stronger so they should hold more power reliably.

I think I'm sitting at ~94k right now; I bought it at 40k about 3 years ago. ('07 steptronic coupe)

- HPFP and 3 injectors during the recall
- Mechatronic seal for transmission
- FMIC because the previous owner had 'repaired' some damage to it, poorly.

I'm pretty sure that's the only mechanical problems I've had; aside from that it's just peeling trim and normal wear and tear. The front bushings are pretty much shot at this point and need replacing, but that's to be expected.

This is true above but I would make sure you also get a model with a Oil Cooler, this makes a huge difference. My prior e90 did not have one and it will run really hot all the time around 270-290... This LCI does not go past 230 even on 90+ degree weather... I'm not exactly what year they started (think march 08 production for the e90) but its good for the long run

High-quality cast, Vishnu has an early production car as their shop car, when they opened the engine up, they proved certain internals to be forged and others that were not, I don't remember exactly what was forged and what wasn't, but the pistons were cast, a very high quality that it was easily mistake able with being forged

Dude its gonna cost you regardless of miles..my car has 36k on the clock with used car CPO warranty and I just had to dump 3k into it to replace the clutch. You gotta pay to play tho. It's not like the 335i is a boring car..

178K miles... bought at 48K, just HPFP so far. Wondering how long my water pump will go. I commute 170 miles a day, so mostly highway, but it still runs great.

Provide a source? Have you heard an engine with forged pistons?

N54 has forged crankshaft and rods. Pistons are cast.

One source:

there are a few threads on here where people pulled forged pistons out of early 07 builds. Definitely some conflicting data around, but it seems that at least some early 07 builds have a fully forged rotating assembly.

Could you please provide some links? Everything I've been reading on this forum over the past years was all the talk about forged pistons in early models, however I have yet to read a legit claim. Not saying you are wrong, just wondering if you have some links to the claims.
