The grades below are as BMW spec for the 335i, so check your grade spec for your gearbox and diff,

The brands below are top quality full synthetics, I used them after reccomendations on here:

Gearbox oil - 2 litres of Fuchs TITAN SINTOFLUID SAE 75W-80 synthetic

Diff oil - 2 litres of Fuchs Titan Race SYN 5 75W-90 Fully Synthetic Gear Oil

After changing the box oil I really noticed an improvement in shift feel and smoothness.

Do you just change it in the normal way on a sealed box? Mine has "sealed for life" on it.

Cheers

Its not a sealed box, just BMW reckon you don't need to change the oil ever, probably right technically, but it can't hurt though, and mine felt a lot smoother when changed for a top notch oil at 42k.

It still has a drain plug underneath and a filler/level plug on the side.

Possibly for the auto, but not for the manual.

OK, uprated MT mounts fitted. The effect? Not staggering, but enough. Takes out all the left/right slop and changes are now more 'switch-like'. The best compliment I can pay is that changing gear is now something I just forget about, whereas before I was constantly aware of the notchiness and poor change quality.

Bear in mind though that mine is MSport spec, which I believe has a shorter throw and stubbier knob than the SE as standard, so the effects might be different with another model.

Worth the money? Hmmmm maybe - useful mod, but probably a bit overpriced for what they are. Just my five penn'orth...

Next job...replace the CDV valve!

Nice work Phil,

I've got he mounts coming, so hopefully it will tighen things up a bit.

+1 the Msport has a slightly shorter 'knob' but the shift arm & mech is identical between models, so throw angle is the same across model.

I've got the BMW Perf short shift kit, which has a whole new shift arm that changes the linkage geometry, giving a much shorter angle of movement. It also has a stiffer vibration damping section in the two part shift arm.

It has a nice bolt-like action, so I hope these new mounts will make it even better!

Yes they will fit. DIY guide here:

plus if you're buying the mounts made by Rogue Engineering, you'll receive fitting instructions with the goods.

Seriously looks worse than it is. Took me about 20 mins...but if you're not confident, get a good indy to do it for you.
