Are these temps when your just cruising or when you drive the car hard? I tend to see anywhere from 15 deg to 25 + deg when cruising over ambient, if I'm not moving and in traffic the latter as heat soak sets in.

For me when cruising i see 10 degrees over outside temps.if I use meth it lowers of course, but without meth I normally see 10 degrees diff over ambient outside air.thats in the summer too.now in winter I see 8-10 degree diff.i wonder if putting a shroud around inter cooler to only direct air to inter cooler would make a difference.i know someone else is already doing this.not sure if its worth doing.got to do some custom cutting for it to work.Yes not moving my temps do rise since car isn't seeing airflow, normal.

N54 TuNer What fmic do you run? I run the 5" ets and its pretty cold up where I'm at but does 15 degrees over ambient just cruising sound about right? I see that you run meth, on say like 3 repeated pulls back to back to back how much do your iat's climb over ambient. Just curious to see how much the meth effects the iat. I run meth on my evo 8 and love it.

I run the HPF INTERCOOLER. I see 10degrees over ambient.just like any other,if I'm at idle, traffic,my intake temps do rise but once moving it drops & evens out to 10 degrees on average.

OP like I stated can't go wrong with either one of the 3.
Nothing is wrong, I have Cobb, so I frequently look at temp. Crusing I see about 20 deg over ambient, in pulls it stabilizes but still not what I expected.
I assume Jake has a lot logs for multiple cars he can share with us.
Trust me, I thought HPF design was great until I received their unit with small bend, some fins bent in. After looking at Helix, you will have to agree that this is the best unit out there. Quality is superb

They will all do the exact same thing to be honest. I like the ER competition due to the shroud that directs air flow into the intercooler. I have never heat soaked on the track (given I do have dual oil coolers from ER).

Thank you all. The decision was made based on a friend who sold me his well taken care HPF unit. I am now stage 2+ with my AR catless and the power is what some say "Stupid fast". I did have to cut the shroud and fins but I sanded them down nicely. My only concern is the radiator fan only sits flush on the drive side and about 1/2 inch off the pass side. Any ideas?

PS The point of an intercooler is to reduce heat soak....

I also love all this 10 and 20 above ambient talk, totally useless without real data. Sitting in traffic numbers are not important.
What is important is real world 3rd to 4th gear data at WOT.

I think he was referring to other people that were posting random numbers.
Real logs are always beneficial to discussion. Facts> Opinions

Truth be told logs are good but if you want to compare intercooler to intercooler apples to apples it needs to be done on the same car with the same boost curve and ideally the same ambients and heat soaking. Anything else is helpful but doesnt necessarily show the whole story.

True plus my car really isn't a good candidate because it didn't come with the factory oil cooler.
