Well....I think the dealers are starting to do what BMW is not doing very well, that is adjusting for a plumeting United States Dollar currency. Since Jan 1 2007 it's down 8% in terms of the USD index, if you measure it against other things it is down much more. Basically with the surcharge they are collecting an equal amount of $ in terms of purchasing power. Since the end of January 2002 the dollar has lost 36% of its value against the USD Index.

I am not saying it won't hurt sales, because wages are not going up as fast as prices are, but its an option for them.

I hope they sell it at that. If they are doing that they belive they can get it. There is always a fool with a lot of money who will brag and say he paid 70k for a 3 series vert espically in Cali.

but with the speed our economy is declining, we may be paying those prices before we know it...
we have one on the floor (335xi) without some options and its about 52k

yeah, again, 335xi almost fully loaded is not an entry level 3-series by any means.

i don't think dealerships are in power to make decisions about how US dollar affects prices of cars sitting on the lot. making such decisions is a lengthy and complicated process that comes from people in senior management positions at bmw corporate.

Why only the 2nd free with 40K on it already?

I had my 2nd one done last month at about 38K.

I know that you've had your car way longer than I've had mines that's why I'm surprised that you haven't had the 2nd one yet.

If it still shows 1700 miles currently, what was the starting point?

In fact mines previously all started at 18K, but after this past oil change and software update, it started the countdown at 16K.

I think if you're willing to wait on an order, you can get some good deals even in the Bay.

I ordered my E93 335i back in early September from SF. It took two months to arrive, but I got 2k under MSRP ... plus another 700 or so when I put 16k on the credit card! Gotta love that cash back.

It's all about the patience ... and the cash back! Always the cash back...

Why the heck would they reset the oil change countdown after the Inspection 1, if they didn't change the oil again???? That makes no sense at all.
