Pitted Chrome

Problem#1: The chrome lining around my windows are pitted and dull. Can this be buffed out? Or do I have to take it in to get them replaced?

Problem#2: Same problem on my windows...pitted from horrible sand winds in Palm Springs. Is there any polish made for windows that can make them look new?

Thanks guys.

you can polish glass just like paint, however at a much lower RPM because it will heat up much faster. those chrome trim peices look beyond repair...

I'll defer to ScheerSpeed because he's an expert. But before you give up on your chrome trim, try running the pad over it the next time you're polishing your paint. For mine, which had been cloudy from hard water (I guess), it cleared it right up and it looks great now.

I normally wouldn't run the RO over trim like that -- mainly because I wouldn't want to clean the inevitable bits of polish out from behind the trim -- but I'd given up on other ways of fixing my chrome trim. None got stuck back behind the trim, although I didn't have much "loose" polish left on the pad anyway. I was surprised at how well it worked, and how easy it was after all.
