Inquiry on installation of CSL style trunk spoiler
Hi guys I am ordering a CSL style trunk spoiler from JBSPEED. I am wondering if the 3M tape can hold up to it or do I need to use glue? And what about fitment wise?

usually for spoilers 3M tape would be good enough.

I just got my spoiler from jspeed I'm a little disappointed with the condition there is 2 nicks in the paint on the edge and on the top there is a hairline scratch in the clear coat. I did a dry fit of the spoiler using painters tape and I can see a gap between the spoiler and rear of my trunk. I think this can be resolved with 3m tape though. I'm on the fence with weather or not I will go ahead and mount it to my car.
My overall impression with the spoiler is for the price it's what you should expect of an aftermarket spoiler. Not perfect but to the average person it will due. I'm going to leave it taped to the car overnight and then check it out again in the day light to see how it all flows. |

Got JBSPEED's pm for pictures showing the problems with the spoiler. I realized that my BMW roundel and 328i emblem was causing the gaps. DUH I shaved them off the trunk and then mounted up the spoiler. It's a sunny day out so pixs to come in a few.

I used a lot of 3m tape pretty much the entire backside of the spoiler is covered with the indoor/outdoor heavy duty red 3M tape. I traced the shape of the spoiler out during a dry fit on the trunk and then sprayed the tape with some quick detailer and whiped off the excess spray and slapped it on the trunk. Then used painters tape to secure it down and let it sit for a couple hrs in the garage (above 70 degrees) then today let the car sit out in the sun all day. There's no give in the spoiler at all so it won't be going anywhere unless on a rare night it get below freezing here in San Antonio.

Another question for the guys that have the spoiler did you use your trunk roundel on the spoiler? The roundel is slightly bigger than the indentation in the spoiler it will fit but it's not seated totally flat in the area. I didn't want to drill any holes into the spoiler (compromise the paint via cracking) so I used the same 3m tape. I may take some betalink to this though because there is some give in the roundel since it's not totally flat on the spoiler...
