Cracked front sub-frame!
Starting this thread for a couple reasons, primarily to remind lowered vehicles to check their suspension often.
I must have been driving on this for weeks if not months with absolutely no negative feedback from the car, but at any moment I could have nailed a pothole and sheered the sub-frame completely through. So I will be filing an insurance claim to replace the sub-frame and I wanted to get some opinions on any other work I should have done while I am already down there. I had considered doing the M3 control arm replacement in the front but I already have BC Coilovers in the front so would that really be worth it? Any recommendations on other parts to replace while the sub-frame is being replaced?

I have absolutely no clue what I hit, I have nailed a couple potholes but mostly on the opposite side.
And I scrape going over things but I can't imagine this happened from a speed bump or hump. I will definitely be dialing back the stiffness on my coilovers in the front.

+1 on the oil pan gasket and bolts. Pulling the subframe isn't too bad if you have the time. Just get it up high on jack stands. One you disconnect the steering shaft, power steering lines, and a coolant hose there's only six nuts holding the subframe in there. Pull off the brake calipers and rotors to get rid of some weight and you can easily lower it out of there with a floor jack. I removed and replaced mine to get at the oil pan gasket by myself. You need an engine hoist to hold the engine in place from the top since it is mounted to the subframe. There's a place to screw in a tow hook by the oil filter housing for the hoist.

Now that I think about it, I did nail a mini manhole cover a few months back that was popped up and made a pretty solid impact. I thought nothing of it because my front bumper was untouched.
I checked everything in the rear but should have gotten the car up on 4 stands to really inspect it.

That is from a manhole cover or similar. Piece of metal that was sticking up. I would definitely try to go through the insurance since that repair will be costly.

You can see where the control arm has been rubbing on the subframe during cornering. The arm probably moves 1/2" inward and 1" outward, putting a lot of twist on the bolt and bushing. Surprising that it wasn't tramlining on grooved road surfaces, or felt in the steering as the toe fluctuated.

I haven't measured but I would say about 4-6in clearance for the front bumper. I am on BCs and I am flush with 18s.
Yeah I am pretty sure that is what happened, I am claiming it on insurance and hoping to get my control arms replaced in the claim.
