Dackz,
I don't like the PE tips either and has been one of my reservations about getting it.

How did you put the stock tips on your PE?

Took the stock exhaust as one piece down to Collins muffler and told them to hack the tips off and put them on. Simple job and cost me labor only, wasnt bad I think like $75???

Like I said though, I searched UP AND DOWN for what I wanted and in the end I just couldnt find what I was looking for (damn that sounds like U2, ha). The good thing is that the tips wont adversley effect the sound to the point of making a huge differnce with the exhaust. I dont think it did anything to mine honestly, maybe mad it a TAD bit deeper But thats about it.

My only regret about the exhaust is that I didnt get it sooner.

In cobb's situation no, if at sea level it hit 12 psi, at altitude it can go +3psi depending on condition, this load targeting.

In piggy, it will stay the same therefore you are not making the same power at both locations.

Interesting....thats what I am trying to avoid, is the fact of it turning the turbo's more for elevation. I want 12 here, not 15. Dang.

Dude, your car is pushing nearly 11 here anyway becuase of the elevation. 8.5 psi stock. Roughly -2.5 psi atmospheric pressure from all of my testing when I had a tune. So to make even 1psi the turbos have to work at a 3.5 psi rate. So 11 psi at full boost to hit the 8.5 psi target.

1 more psi to hit 12 will be like 15 or 20 hp. Not even worth it for 8 or 9 hundred dollars in the Corn Cobb tune. Don't waste your time with another tune, just turn up that POS JB+ tune beyone 15%

Yeah, what Matt said. Need to be pushing at least 14, and more like 16psi here to make a big difference. 12psi here isn't a lot more than stock like he said. Unfortunately the turbos are working harder to get to that psi up here though, so any mods you can do to increase the efficiency or decrease temps can go a long way (IC and catless DPs) to helping your little turbos not work as hard.

Yep, I routinely see 17.9 PSI indicated on stage 1 Cobb at low RPM at my elevation (~8k-12k). This puzzled me for a while, but then i realized what maps that target load meant. Essentially they target absolute manifold pressure, not some delta PSI above ambient. So if ambient is low due to elevation then turbos work a bit harder to hit it. They don't push any more air mass than at low elevation, but a larger portion of it needs to be compressed, ergo better FMIC is a real good idea.

I did not understand this before I bought the Cobb but I am glad it works that way.

Do you know what PSI you were seeing stock? I've been under the impression that at 5K feet the the full compensation that the stock programming delivers is less than the max it can do - in other words, that you see about 10.5psi and max occurs more around 8K feet?

Still have yet to meet anyone that has measured and volunteered boost numbers stock in Denver...

My exhaust came in today!

Checked out the tips, they are much more polished than I thought they would be - that is a good thing!

Probably be a week or two before I get it on. I'll run it with the existing tips and see what I think. I have heard changing the tips changes the sound - I wonder since you went with stock if it is different than if you went with a bigger 3.5" tip or something?

I'm going to go for a spin once the stock muffler gets cut off to see what I think of the sound/drone with a muffler delete

No I do not know what it puts out stock. I suppose I could set it to stock map and see. Once all the snow is gone. I was very surprised when I first saw 17.9, now I see it all the time I have the Cobb plugged in. If you do the math that is a MAP of just about 15 PSI over sea level, or 17.9 + 8k ambient (roughly 2 bar). So I figure load targeting is working. Note this is both with and without an ETS FMIC @ low rpm on stage 1 sport (stock FMIC) or aggressive (ETS or stock FMIC). Also have a BMS DCI.

If we get a clear day (roads wise) up here I'll see if I can do some stock map logs. Would be good to know. It is snowing hard right now and it may be it for the season's testing. I barely got the ETS FMIC installed before the storm hit. Stock would not be truly stock at this point due to FMIC + DCI. It is cold enough outside I doubt the FMIC is doing much at low rpm.

I dont think sound will change too much going with a larger tip, might be a tad louder but that is all. I think going back to stock tip toned mine down a tad, and I mean a tad. Either way it wont affect it enough to warrant any worries. Now if you start taking out cats and such...then you change it drastically.
