Service Light After Washing Car

I've been getting a service light everytime I wash my car. I'm just hand washing it with a regular hose.
After I dry it I start it up to move it back to my parking spot and the service notice comes up a few seconds after starting the engine. It's always gone the next time I start the car. This never happens when it rains. I can't figure it out.

Have the code read right after the car wash. It might be nothing, or it might be something important you'll want to catch.

Garage List
Go back and wash the spot you missed.

I think I'll do that. It's incredibly consistent. Wash car, start it up, bing...service code, park it, stop engine, no code. I suppose it's stored in memory for a bit. It's odd that the automatic car wash doesn't set it off. A regular OBD-II code reader won't pick it up.

I'll plan my next wash accordingly.

That's the one. I'll check the battery charge. I've had to charge it before.

Are you opening and closing the doors frequently during the wash? If you are it could be the battery draining. Turn off the interior lights during washes by holding the dome light for about 15 seconds next time.

Yup, it was the battery. I was at around 12 volts. I do open and close the doors quote a bit during a wash. That combined with short trip probably does it. I'll just have to check it more frequently and pull out the charger more often.
