I see you live in long island. if you deal with any salt/snow DO NOT GET UR DOWNPIPES. THEY RUST TO AN UNSAFE LEVEL.

UR was the first company to come out with DPs for the N54...At that time they were the best...As the year evolved, they are no longer looked upon as good DPs...There are many DPs out there in the market that are better than UR...Unless your getting them really cheap, tread elsewhere my friend....
BTW....just look at the for sale threads and see how many UR Dps are for sale!

ur dps arent the best quality, but they get the job done. Probably one of the best 2.5'' dps ull find out there. If u are interested in them, grab em with the coating , incase if u live in snow and salt, if u are worried ofcourse.

Ive had mine on for about a year and a bit now. They dunn look 2 bad actually and its going through its second winter. Mines an everyday driver and I live in Canada, so Our winters arent the best.

Garage List
2008 E92 335i  [8.00]
Quality of product is subpar as is the performance as there are 3" pipes available proven to offer upwards of 8hp over the 2.5".

I live in Socal, 3 blocks from the ocean and i had mine on for over a year. Took them off and they looked like new. Mine where coated and heat wrapped. They fit great and make plenty of power. I upgraded to 3" and didnt notice much of a difference. But hey, 8hp extra

if you are forced to buy them... definitely get em coated and wrapped. that will help.. if you don't they will rust to the point of no return.. as in you can probably break the o2 bung off with your bare hands.

I agree if your going to get the URs make sure you get them coated to protect them, since it seems as though the metal they used is prone to rust...Coated will definitely protect them a drop longer...

I have UR's I bought used, and they are fine. I haven't seen the pics from jpsimon's thread, but apparently they have a considerable amount of surface rust on the O2 bung and flange. Not sure I would call them unsafe, however.
Every factory exhaust system has some level of rust, some more than others.

this was after one winter. UR uses Mild Steel for their flanges and o2 bungs (I found that out after, since they don't list that on their site).

IMHO, virtually any of that stuff is going to peel off in a hurry. Get them ceramic coated properly.

i bought my UR dps and CAI 2 years ago:
the UR cai is still among the best, but the dps are only 2.5 inch.
i got nothing but great service from them - but if i were to buy dps right now:

go ars or max schnell - both are 3 inch.

btw, UR is out of canada - so i am surprised that jpsimon had rust problems.

surprised that derek at UR took that position - i have seen your pics and they do not look normal.

it would be good to swap to 3 inch in your case - especially since your car is fast - it will just get faster.
... i plan on doing the same - gonna go with 3 inch ceramic coated babies - but i want bigger turbos first

good luck and stay cool
