Yep. I don't even have to say anything anymore, my SA just puts a "do not wash" note on the dash.
I always wash up mine before it goes in to the dealer for service and
I laminated a printed sign that I hang from the rear view. -

My Owner Requests

DO NOT
WASH

Thank you

I just detailed my engine bay using this engine cleaning gun I got at Harborfrieght

http://www.harborfreight.com/engine-...gun-68290.html

It really atomizes whatever I shoot through it very well (I use a commercial compressor that can power a lot of different things at 150psi all day long). Not as forceful as a power washer, but I think it works great for small jobs. Really liked it. Used the feeder hose to shoot distilled water over everything and then some Chemical guys Grime reaper degreaser. Agitated and then let it sit and then shot it off with distilled water. Mixed 20oz using half of my dressing and distilled water and shot that everywhere using the feeder hose.

That gun is mostly shooting air with some water/product. I think it's a lot safer and more controlled than going in there with a garden hose or power washer.

Used some einszitt cockpit premium (water based). From what I read, it doesn't really protect for the interior and is more of a quick detailer, but I really like how it made the engine bay look.Sorry, no pics...but it came out very clean looking, like the engine was all nice and new from the factory. No shine at all...just freshly built looking.

did you cover anything before you wash the bay?

I posted this earlier in the thread:

The only thing I do in addition to prepare, is cover the alternator with a plastic bag for protection. I would use this technique for any additional component of concern.

The most important thing to remember is to not use a jet of water to rinse! You want to use a mist or shower setting on your sprayer. As long as you abide by this, you should have no issues.

I use the P21S Total Auto Wash as discussed in the DIY for cleaning, and the 303 Aerospace Protectant for dressing the hoses and vinyl/plastic parts.
