In front XI the axle is not attached to the bearing/hub, or at least you can remove the hub/carrier/bearing assembly from axle splines by just tapping/sliding it off. In theory. Unless it is stuck of course!

What I probably will do is see how far I can get with hand tools and if it looks like it is stuck really bad, go from there. A super busy friend of mine has a machine/welding shop with a 20 ton. I was hoping to get by with a 12 ton and not bother him, plus have it for other purposes.
