Don't know how accurate the cobb ap is compared to a v-box but heres my result.
car is a 2008 335xi 6at running stg1+fmic v402 agg. mods are in sig and temp outside was 22 degrees with traction control off on stock rft 225/45/17 and stock 159 wheel. Test was done bb @ about 2500 rpm in DS mode.

I don't think so. Do you have a xi? I'm sure the awd is helping me because of the traction. Hey give it a try, but if you are rwd you may want to wait for better weather/warmer asphalt.

Sorry I totally missed that yours is a x-drive but did notice you have a 6mt, I believe its a little harder to launch because you have to abuse your transmission. I'm not saying that I'm not abusing mine ,but with 6mt its harder on the drivetrain.

So I'm deciding between an AWD and RWD.. Which is quicker? I will be taking my car to the track several times, so I'd hate to get an AWD and get outran by a RWD. What are the pros/cons?

Did some quick tests with my vbox the last few days:
Stock 0-60: 5.1 seconds JB+ 100%: 4.5 seconds (93 octane) JB+ 100%: 4.3 seconds (93 + 40% E85) 1/4 mile is 13.6 @ 103 stock and 13.0 @ 107.5 JB+, with the E85 I did 12.9 @ 108.5 I will be testing the Cobb maps soon, as well as the JB4 G5, and publishing test data from the vbox. All testing done in close temps on the same stretch of road (0% slope). |

That was last summer and I had been de-modded until this last week. I doubt I'll go full tilt again because the downpipes are a PITA to get on and off, but I am going to be keeping the JB4 G5 and Cobb. I'll also be doing the inline fuel pump upgrade soon to run 50% E85 on a regular basis. |

Based on what I read in your signature, I'm interested in your plans for your car and hope to see similar aggression with modifying. There are some good set ups around here, welcome and may you become excessive with your modification addiction to this car as well |

I compared the Cobb AP to Vbox the other day, 0-60 was close with the Cobb being a bit off (showing 4.4 vs vbox 4.5) and the 60 FT was reading a bit high. Pretty close though, I haven't tested the 1/4 ET or trap yet.

Thats not your v-box is it? I have that same g-timer and I don't think its accurate, theres to many variables like plugging in the weight and theirs rollout before the meter starts reading. I would use your cobb ap instead. I'm not saying its off by a lot but I think they tend to read on the lower side, the g-timer that is.

if I correct for 1ft roll out then the time will improve further. there was an article in caranddriver comparing several of these devices and they were pretty close around 1/10th to 2/10th of secs, g-timer came a bit slower than gps measurements. so if gps is used then the time might be better by atleast 0.1 secs. here is a link to comparison of several devices and seems g timer is 0.2 sec slower to vbox. http://media.caranddriver.com/files/...er-results.pdf Last edited by dk79; 03-12-2013 at 11:54 PM..
